Very little oil in Iraq? Oh, come on!!!
Edited on Thu Sep-18-03 01:29 AM by E_Zapata
I am really confused with the murmurs that the oil reserves in Iraq are in decline and that Saddam lied about how much was there. On one hand, I can Saddam lying about it back when we supported him during the Iran-Iraq war -- and playing into the greed of American oil interests. But, on the other, I could see the Bush Admin running a huge propaganda campaign to diffuse the "War for Oil" talk. Without WMDs, and the proof that it was a 'high crime' for the Bush Admin to use WMD to justify the war that comes out more and more, Mr. Rove absolutely has to come up with something ingenious to cover up the REAL reason for the invasion: OIL

I think there *is* oil there. By saying there isn't much oil there -- the US gets Putin and Chirac off her back about the canceled oil contracts; and it makes the talk of "war for oil" just a tad bit less believable; it tips the table back to "Saddam was an evil guy; we had to liberate the iraqis".

Of particular interest is post #60 by Oaf of Office

This just blows my mind. Will there be a day when I am completely unable to see through the BS -- and just have to start believing everything I here from the WH in order to maintain my sanity?

1. It all boils down to one thing:
Its not Bush's fault, or the administrations fault. They were decieved, and should not be blamed.

Its bullshit.

Of course they are lying about all of this. But the scary thing is, its even worse if they are telling the truth. That would mean that this is the dumbest, least capable, most gullible administration in history. Neither option bodes well.

2. I'm more inclined to believe
as in post #60 by Oaf of Office suggests that this administration is about to "hit the rocks" over oil in Iraq. I don't think things are going so well with Putin either, nor is Putin inclined to bail this aministrations sorry ass out of trouble. (Saw something with a source cited about that here but sorry don't have a link for it.)

I think they really WERE counting on more oil reserves to help finance some of this operation, and a lot of things have gone wildly out of control. Just a hunch, I could be wrong.

3. Actually, there was an intersting thread on her
sometime in May, I believe. There was a link to a man who was an expert in satellite (sp.?) photography. I believe he was retired but kept it up as a hobby with the proper equipment. He stated unequivocably that a pipeline had been built from the Basrah area to Kuwait, the implication was that we were stealing this oil. Said he could see the pipeline lights from his satellite imagery. Twas a fascinating post. Could they be stealing it?

Also, interestingly, talk around here of Halliburton trying to hire truckdrivers. Pay of $100,000 a yr. with an $80,000 bonus. What they would be hauling would not be known to the driver. Very hush-hush. What could this be? Anything commonly hauled would not have to kept secret. BTW, Halliburton does a lot of hiring around So. Louisiana and Houston. This is not hearsay. I actually know someone well who was offered a job.

4. they are poormouthing so they can skim most of it
The oil infrastructure is in better shape than they say it is. Oil is flowing through Jordan to Israel.

EVERYTHING from the Bush/PNAC cabal is disinformation. EVERYTHING.
