If it's good enough for Martha, it's good enough for Jennifer..
I normally avoid the "personality fluff-stuff" like the plague, but there's a bigger issue here that's being overlooked by the press.. They were all-too-ready to start with the Laci Peterson similarities, and now that she's "baaaaack", I have YET to hear anyone make the Martha comparison..

Jennifer LIED to authorities, including FBI after she was "found".. She cost the taxpayers a whole lot more than the minsicule number of shares of stock that Martha sold...and they went out of their way to say it WASN'T the sale of the shares,....it was the LIE to the authorities....

Martha got the book thrown at her, when she would have been more than able and willing to pay a fine..

She lost her company, was incarcerated, and is harrassed daily by the NYPost...

"Miss jennifer" apparently has not apologized or even thinks she did anything wrong..yet.. the next time a young mother or young woman turns up missing, will the authorities be as ready to drop everything and start the search??

She may have cost the next young woman her LIFE...

2. LOL, he's reaming her, isn't he?
Edited on Mon May-02-05 08:12 PM by crispini
He's saying that if she wasn't a white pretty young woman this would be a VERY different story. He's all for going after her 'cause she lied about "being kidnapped."

Hi Catch! :hi: Funny, you're watching Dan Abrams right now. Why would that be? :P

edited to add: he's starting to grow on me, Abrams. He's not a bad looking guy.

13. Makes sense to me. This woman gets no sympathy from me.
She used it all up when people thought she was kidnapped. I should've known better.

3. I'll have to change the channel.. I usually hate to watch him
He's such a putz..

But she needs to be held accountable.. Supposedly she said that she didn't "know" people were looking for her.. Hah!! She's the STAR of a Wed-gasm planned for a few days later with a "cast of thousands", and she thinks that no one will NOTICE that she's "missing"?

and she's not a "GIRL".. When I was her age, I had 3 kids( one of whom had already had about 10 operations), a husband, a mortgage..

You are NOT a girl at 32..and your actions have consequences..

6. Adding my two cents for what it is worth
Yeah, she lied to authorities, but the lie itself lasted what, a few minutes (??) before she fessed up. The lie took place AFTER the major amount of money, time, effort, and publicity took place, and she owned up to the lie. It isn't a crime to disappear without explanation, yet that was when the most damage was done. So I am not sure she should be accountable for the time and effort spent in trying to find her (legally anyway). Martha continued to lie all through her trial. And I thought her situation was ridiculous. If I disagreed with prosecuting Martha (and I did and do) why should I want Jennifer prosecuted when the actual "crime" really wasn't the issue with all the trouble and money spent?

The crime is how the media makes circuses out of everyday people's lives.

9. I agree about the media thing, BUT.. she HAD to know
that someone EVERYONE would be looking for her, and she PLANNED it.. That's what's crappy too.. She had to know that her "fiance" would be accused.. Maybe she's just a passive/aggressive who got into a snit, and decided to punish a bunch of people:shrug:

10. my vote is for
a HEAVY dose of community service!! I agree she should be accountable financially-- but not criminally. It just isn't legally a crime to plan a disappearance, is it? The lie could have been as a result of the inordinate amount of media coverage. Technically it might be a crime, but it did no damage by itself.

11. She (or her family) will buy her way out of it..
She apparently has not even really apologized.. She was probably one of those little girls who get schlepped all over the place competing in "pageants".. "You're so prettttty"...
The JonBenet complex, I call it.. From early on, these little "princesses" are groomed into thinking that they are perfect

Edited on Mon May-02-05 09:03 PM by riverwalker
if only the media spent a fraction of the time wasted covering Miz Jen on the death of a real american hero, Marla Ruzicka. (The aid worker who died recently, in Iraq attempting to document civilian casualties).

14. Sadly, that's the way it usually happens..
The people who are busily doing good, are rarely noticed or missed by many more than the ones they helped..

Pseudo-celebs are worshiped:puke:
