HBO Saturday Night Movie: Warm Springs
As the only U.S. president re-elected three times, he brilliantly led America through the Great Depression and World War II. But the toughest challenge Franklin Delano Roosevelt ever faced was one the country never saw.

2. I'm about to put it on now
I had other things to do before, but I set it to record so I'll start it from the beginning. It looks like a wonderful movie.

3. Thanks for the reminder.
I've been looking forward to it. I'll have to catch the west coast telecast.

4. My legs were paralyzed
during the '54 polio epidemic, and if it wasn't for the beginnings of therapy developed at Warm Springs I might have ended up in braces for a long time. Salk invented the vaccine a year later.

This HBO show brings back a lot of scary memories.

9. I had a friend in an iron lung. Emotional movie.
It was a scary time. We were not supposed to get overheated, stay out of crowds.

It was a beautiful movie, but it was hard to watch at times. I kept comparing his compassion to that of the current WH resident.

God bless Salk for that vaccine.

5. Extremely touching movie.
Everytime I compared his compassion for the folks in Warm Springs with the fool we have now, I got tears. Hubby choked up as well. His ending words when he left there....we will continue to do as we have...."lift each other up."

6. How I long for a REAL president like FDR!
He really cared and truely wanted to help.

Now look at what we've got: an apathetic uncaring snob who doesn't give two shits about anybody but himself and his rich cronies.

8. yep burned it on a DVD
This post is in memory of my great grandmother who idolized Roosevelt. FDR's programs gave her only son, my grandfather, the work he needed to support her and the rest of our family. According to her, FDR kept our family from starving.

You were right, Nonnie. Thank you for telling me about your President 25 years ago.

I weep for what we have now, and I'm glad Nonnie met her reward in heaven long before this administration took office. She's weeping too somewhere, I imagine.
