Notice how they never give this much attention to missing black kids
Now that we now this Georgia woman is OK, why spend any more time on it? There are hundreds of missing kids, why don't they pay as much attention to them? I know, they want a story, and this Georgia story is nice. Still, CNN coul get rid of that scroll and put a picture of every missing child instead. It would help, I think.

2. Remember that little white girl got killed in Southern California
by a pedophile? At the same time a little black girl got abducted in Philadelphia. The little black girl was able to fight off her assailant and lived to tell the tale. However, while the drama of both missing children was being played out in the news, I think I remember seeing the picture of the little black girl once until she was found.

I'm not trying to diminish the suffering of the little white girl and her mother, but her picture was shown 24/7 until her murderer led police to her grave. In the meantime morning talk show hosts blathered about it. One host had some official from a lost children's organization on talking about the two little girls.

The talk show host (whose name I can't remember) fawned over the little white girl "as being so precious". The official from the organization curtly replied, "All children are precious."

Yep, no bigotry here.

3. It's become completely ridiculous.
It's a parody. The non-story the media built fell completely apart and now the fact that it's become a non-story is the story.

If the woman was indeed unaware of the media circus her case of cold feet had become I could imagine her saying, like Bugs Bunny, "Ehhhh...I shoulda toined left at Albuquerque".

4. It's all driven by what they think the audience is interested in
and will identify with. And in this country, sadly, most TV news consumers don't identify with "missing black kids." Ratings, ratings, ratings . . .

6. in a similar vein -- and even worse -- is the lack of attention to . . .
all of the Iraqis killed in the U.S. invasion/occupation . . . American deaths get reported . . . Iraqi deaths not only don't get reported, they're not even tracked (or so they say) . . .

why is a missing white child more important than a missing black child? . . .

why is an American death more important than an Iraqi death? . . .

and how do these two realities relate to one another? . . .

7. When Chandra Levy went missing, two little black girls from Chicago
disappeared. They were sisters. Next to zero national attention or concern. It's a disgrace.
