More children murdered by their mother --yet ANOTHER incident
Children stabbed 200 times, court told
From correspondents in Rolling Meadows, Illinois
30apr05

AN Illinois woman allegedly found holding a knife near the mutilated bodies of her two children has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder.

The children, aged three and nine, had been stabbed more than 200 times, a court was told today.

Tonya Vasilev, 34, stood with her wrist wrapped in a heavy bandage as an assistant state's attorney described the scene to the court in Rolling Meadows, a suburb of Chicago.

The court heard Ms Vasilev's husband arrived home to discover his nine-year-old son lying in a pool of blood in the kitchen.

He picked the boy up and carried him to a phone, where he called 911.

He then went upstairs and allegedly found his wife covered in blood and holding a knife near the mutilated body of their three-year-old daughter.

Ms Vasilev, who allegedly admitted to police that she had killed her children, was held without bond. A pretrial hearing was scheduled for May 20.

1. I read a longer report earlier on today

Seems the woman has had a history of mental illness. Which would probably explain why she stabbed her children a couple hundred times. I also read that there was a fire in the past at the couples home which the police are going to re-investigate.

4. They had declared the fire a accident caused by the furnace
after this I can definitely see why they are looking into it again.

Remember when you were a kid and you thought all the bad stuff happened miles away from you? I miss those days.
