I remember him in the early 70s....he was fresh, irreverent...definitely NOT a hack. He wrote a book on young heros that I reviewed when I was working for a newspaper part time. Then, when I was in law school, he came to the school. He didn't stand at a podium, but sat on the edge of the stage, just rapping. He was smart and not at all arrogant. I spoke with him afterward, and he signed my book.

Now he has turned into a wacky media whore. I really wonder what the hell happened?
