3. "The Democrats, United, Will Never Be Defeated"
Now then, just hang tight and force Shrub to raise the payroll tax caps from $90K to $120K and voila, problem solved.

That is unless the dire straights Bush talked about tonight was all a bluff...

18. It depends. There is a great deal of wealth that is earned above $100k.
6% of it would definately bring in billions of dollars.

20. and how much of that 6% would go toward benefits, as opposed to
fees?

26. well, if I'm not mistaken the total 6% doesn't go toward
your savings account. I think approximately 2/3 of it goes into the account. Some of that will inevitably have to be used to pay account management fees. Then, supposing you're near retirement age, and the stock market takes a nose dive and you lose money. The remaining 1/3 that you've paid in goes right to the government (along with whatever's principal is in the account, but you get to keep what it earns above the rate of return and above the 3 percentage points added to adjust for inflation)

am I close?

7. No. The Wall Street boys are desperate to get that pot o' money.
The attempted larceny will continue until we have a Democratic President and control of the Congress.

Bush said he will be relentless. I believe him with regard to SS. The robber barons will be relentless to dupe the masses into believing "I'm here from the government to save your social security." I'm not especially confident that the millions of morons in this country won't fall for it.

8. then his only option will be to weaken it to the point he could drown it
in the bathtub...

here's a question: Why didn't a "reporter" ask him why they repealed the estate tax when it cut out 296BILLION that could've been used for SS?

9. It's all about getting his way.
It doesn't matter if 99% are against SS plan, Bush will push it anyway. If left unchallenged, he will destroy the country rather than admit he is wrong.

Remember, he's not just the pResident - he's King and Dictator, too.

14. he can push it all he wants, but these congressmen and senators have
to answer to the people. Bush is a lame duck. He doesn't have to worry about getting elected (at least until they change the constitution)

We should be setting up Guillotines in Wash DC out in front of the Capital building as a form of 'street theatre' just to press the point !

10. Don't turn your back on this little SOB
The minute they think we are not paying attention, they will sneak something through a midnight session of congress.
They have something up their sleeve and just want America to turn the other way long enough for them to pull it out.

11. NO! These republicans have been waiting seventy years to get their foot in
Edited on Thu Apr-28-05 09:56 PM by Zinfandel
door, they are not about to give up...Rove will be twisting some arms, they will make some adjustments to make it sound more palable...Keep your eyes on these fucks...they want to destroy Social Security, always have (always will) and this is their best shot since SS inception, when not one republican voted for SS seventy years ago.

They are down, (but not yet out) We have got to keep the pressure on and not make ANY concessions to these lying republicans... by letting them squeeze in the back door and then ultimately, they WILL destroy SS!

19. I accept what you're saying, and I understand it completely...
however the larger issue, is that the people in the house and senate have to answer to their constituents and if the people are again' it, then they'll have to do as the people say.

12. These greedy republicans are like Terminators...
They NEVER stop. As long as there are $Billion beyond their reach in SocialSecurity, these crooks will continue plotting and scheming SOME WAY to STEAL it.
That's WHY it is futile to try to Compromise with them. Immediately after the compromise, they will begin working and whining, and buying Media, and starting new PR campaigns, and lying, and scheming to GET MORE.

THEY NEVER STOP!!...

THEY JUST KEEP COMING AND COMING!!!!....

IT IS ALL THEY DO!!!.....

THEY WON"T BE SATISFIED UNTIL THEY HAVE IT ALL!!!....

THEY NEVER LEARNED TO SHARE OR PLAY WELL WITH OTHERS....

THEY ARE SEVERELY DEVELOPMENTALLY ARRESTED SPOILED CHILDREN!!!!

THEY WON"T STOP UNTIL SOMEONE DRIVES A WOODEN STAKE THROUGH THEIR COLD BLACK HEARTS!!!

Never trust them.
Never leave your wallet on the table around them.
Never let your guard down.
And NEVER NEVER turn your back on them.
They ARE that evil.
