China's top envoy to the United Nations has warned that any U.S. effort to take North Korea's nuclear issue to the Security Council would "destroy" the six-party nuclear talks.

Bloomberg news agency quoted Ambassador Wang Guangya as saying Wednesday that a U-S referral to the top U-N security body would further complicate the situation and destroy all the past diplomatic efforts exerted for the matter.

Russia's Ambassador to the U-N, Andrey Denisov, also warned that taking the North's issue to the Security Council could further provoke the communist state to become more aggressive.

On Tuesday, North Korea reiterated that if the U.S. gets the U-N to impose sanctions on the North, it will consider the move a declaration of war.

That was weird. At 8pm (2am here in Europe) CNNi continued with its regular program from Asia and only turned live to Bush when his opening statement was over. But then they had him on until the bitter end.
