It started innocently enough. I googled for this Author's new book because it is his first I wanted to read some reviews. I think we have a freeper reviewer here....

What a waste!!!!

I've read many books, but this is the first one that I ever stopped reading because of pure disgust!! For Robotham to try and push his personal political remarks on me about our Pres. George W. Bush was so unnecessary and in such poor taste. I will never read another book from this author..What a waste. By the way..the storyline was soooooo slow..no depth to the characters...etc., etc. I only wish I would have read it within the 30 days after purchasing..so I could return it to Doubleday for a refund because I surely was not satisfied.

Edit to Add: Hers was the only negative review of the book. Here is one from a smart person...

BEST BOOK I'VE READ

I thought this was the best book that i have ever read. I hated that the book ended. It's cerebral, intellectual, psychological. It's great. As far as the spelling errors, I didn't find any....litre, liter...Duh!! I laughed at the comment on Bush! It's true. I await the next novel eagerly. VERY eagerly

9. They try to, I think,
especially since they probably got the book for a birthday present. They're rarely successful, and I do believe the only way they get through any of the right wing exercises in literary dung is by keeping them in the appropriate room of the house and reading them whilst enthroned there.

7. Now, now, reading can take a long time
when there are no pictures and you have to sound-out every word.

:)

12. Three weeks! Three weeks! Three weeks!
A group of blondes walk into a bar and request a bottle of champagne. The group sets a framed picture of Cookie Monster on the table. They proceed to dance around a table with their glasses raised while shouting, "Three weeks! Three weeks! Three weeks!"

Finally, the bartender can no longer take the suspense. "What are you ladies celebrating tonight," he asked.

"People say that blondes are dumb," one woman replies.

"Yes, but we bought this puzzle at the store and it says right there on the box '3 to 5 years'," added a man.

"So raspberries to everyone who says blondes are dumb," the woman continued. "We completed it in three weeks!"

"Three weeks! Three weeks! Three weeks!"

Truth hurts Freeper... stop whining. If you think this is bad, your days of disgust are just beginning (cause George's cover is about to get blown).

11. I just finished reading that book.
Very good and I did not find anything political in it. The story is set in England and the author is British.

14. You might enjoy this article, too, along the same lines, of what happens

when books run afoul of the RW machine:

HOW I MANAGED TO GALVANIZE THE RIGHT–WING HATE MACHINE WITHOUT REALLY

Last Spring, I published an extremely strange book called Candyfreak: A Journey Through the Chocolate Underbelly of America, which I described to my publisher (and they described to readers) as "half candy porn, half candy polemic."

The book is a memoir of my own lifelong sweets fetish, along with an account of my cross–country journey to various small, independent candy bar manufacturers.

It got reviewed in a lot of unexpected venues, none, to my mind, more so than the right–wing magazine, The National Review.

19. I love Mysteries and Espionage...
I have not read that one. Isn't that an Oprah pick? I seem to recall it from somewhere. My favorite Authors right now are John LaCarre, John Sanford/Camp, Carl Hiaasan (he is a Pip!), Robert Ludlum Laurence Saunders (before they died :( ), Elmore Leanord (more I can't think of right now) and I am always looking for someone new. I will check her out.

Here is John LaCarre's latest. It is very anti-war/bush/blair throughout it! He is fantastic.
