1. I don't believe anyone is stupid enough to believe "confirmthem.com"...

would be a fair and balanced web site. The name alone says it all! Well, as someone in support of keeping the rules which have worked for so long, I say "filibustertillthecowscomehome.com" is even MORE fair and balanced! SO THERE, Hewitt!

2. Salem Radio Thug

He works for the Antsinger evil empire (Salem Broadcasting)...the home of such lovelies as Laura Ingraham, Michael Savage, Dennis Praeger and other wingnuts. This company owns most of the stations they spew their bile on, and through buying the airwaves they become "mainstream" pundits.

I was thinking of posting this as a seperate string. Last night I encountered my cousin's brother...he's an Israeli immigrant (Sabra) whose become a flying wingnut. I've known Eddie since I visited him in Isarel in 1969 and he's never had both oars in the water. A couple years ago...during the run-up to the Iraq invasion, I was ready to come to blows with him about his ignorance and yelping dittohead talking points.

Last night, at Passover seder, he sits next to my family. I promised to behave, but one can only hold powder so long. He mentioned he listened to the new Salem hate talker in Chicago...and wondered if I'd listened. I looked at him and told him AM Radio doesn't exist on my car radio anymore (including WLS) and he told me I "had to listen"...especially to Michael Savage since "he told the truth".

That was enough. First, I told him his name wasn't Savage, it was Weiner...and he's a self-hating Jew. I say I refuse to listen to Christian Hate radio...like Salem. Eddie then claims Salem isn't Christian, it's Jewish...because of Savage, Michael Medved and Gallagher (forgot the scum's first name...and is he Jewish???...I wouldn't be surprised...another self-loather) I told him about Edward Antszinger, who owns Salem and then yelled to another table to another cousin who works as a media buyer and asked "Hey Kim, what do you think of Salem Broadcasting". On cue, Kim replies, "they're a right wing Christian hate organization" (I couldn't have scripted it better). Eddie turned red, the other people at my table chuckled.

Several at the table then chimed in (Eddie's the lone wingnut in the family...and he's not "direct blood") how they think the news is so biased to the right these days and how they distrust all they see and hear these days. Eddie wasn't going to go quietly. He started into the trouble with, of all things, illegal immigrants. Eddie, while legal, still speaks with a heavy accent, and listening to him spew the Hannity/Savage points made most of us laugh out loud.

Finally, having enough fun for now, I looked at him...he's still ranting about how "Savage tells the truth, you just don't want to hear it"...blah, blah, blah...and I say "Eddie, why are you so angry?" He starts turning beat red...and yells "I'm NOT angry"...that got the attention of everyone in the room. He finally realized he's reached "critical max", and quickly vanished outside for a much-needed smoke.

8. We'll Never Even Get There...

Our family represent the second, third and now fourth generation of immigrants who were very involved in Unions, the Democratic Party and Progressive and Liberal causes. Gay issues aren't really an issue with most of us as is race or sex. We've all grown to accept and respect people for who they are and anyone who shows intolerance, arrogance or stupidity quickly finds our company very uncomfortable.

Considering his comment came up at a Seder where all of us are Jewish...and none were gay...that's why I brought up the Jewish angle. He didn't even bring up the gay issue, he went right for immigration...but just by mentioning his listening to hate radio was enough to get most of us to say how disgusted we were with the bile that comes out of radio and television these days.
