Vatican tells Spanish Catholics to lose jobs in defiance of Gay Marriage
This of course begs the question, will the Vatican be paying the unemployment benefits of those who are supposed to quit their jobs?

Vatican condemns Spain gay bill

The Vatican, under the new leadership of Pope Benedict XVI, has condemned a Spanish government bill allowing marriage between homosexuals.

The bill, passed by parliament's Socialist-dominated lower house, also allows gay couples to adopt.

A senior Vatican official described the bill - which is likely to become law within a few months - as iniquitous.

He said Roman Catholic officials should be prepared to lose their jobs rather than co-operate with the law.

So much for the promises of reaching out.

2. Better than what we have in the US
here they would expect special legal protection as a persecuted minority for "following their conscience". You know, like pharmacists for life or whoever they are.

6. Those pharmacists are inadvertently helping us out, maybe.

There's a bit of common sense in not taking work you morally oppose.

They failed to get that part right and the general public is not in sympathy with them.

11. Hate is not a family value
You may contact the Pontifical Council for the Family at the following address:

His Eminence Alfonso Cardinal Lopez Trujillo
Pontifical Council for the Family
Piazza San Calisto, 16
00120 Vatican City State

Fax: (39)-06-6988-7272 (When dialing from USA, start with 011)

Email: pcf@family.va

feel free to let the cardinal know how you feel, perhaps maybe they should spend more time dealing with child molesting priests?

7. I just posted this article on a conservative Catholic forum.
Yes, I am Catholic, but the people in that forum need to see the other side of it. Many of them rant and rave about the evils of gay marriage. I wonder how many would be willing to give up their jobs if the pope told them to.

8. Is the church going to give them new jobs?
It's easy for the hierarchy to make this pronouncement. It requires nothing from them, and everything from the laity.

12. compare that to their fatwas on the death penalty in the US
is holy mother church demanding that all faithful american catholics refuse to co-operate with US laws on the death penalty?

apparently, the church cares more about not letting homosexuals marry than it does about human life itself.
