to this could be more effective.
Basically, I've shut off ALL tv news. Goodbye, good riddance! I shut off the tv because I refuse to watch either topics that are just a distraction, or if a serious topic, turns out to include a discussion of that topic framed by the corporate media in a way that creates a meaningless discussion of the topic and includes spokespeople from our side that cannot or will not make effective points during the debate. In other words, I have come to the conclusion that the debate is rigged, and I refuse to waste any more time with that.
And it's funny, because since I've shut off the MSM, we seem to be doing better politically. We're actually winning on an issue or two of late AND my sanity is much better to boot. Call it superstition or what have you, but I'm sticking with getting my news from AirAmerica top of the hour news, AirAmerica shows and, of course, just like republican Justice Kennedy does, I turn to the "evil" intenets to find out what's going on.
Tonight, however, I gave in on my fast of MSM and watched a few segments of the ridiculous Heartland show with the rapidly aging John Kasich on Faux News. I am now back on my fast indefinitley after watching a portion of that.
On Heartland, Susan Estrich got in some good points when the topic turned to whether Hillary should be ostracized (sp.) from speaking at a catholic college because she happens to be A DEMOCRAT. But I could not believe that Susan did not state the obvious reply to her opponent's demented accusation presented to Susan that our side's position is one that says that catholics and other christians are not real americans. This confused man Susan was debating, egged on by Kasich, asked Susan whether Susan thought that Catholics were not real americans.
Instead of laughing in his face and replying, of course that is not our position, sir, but you, sir, seem to be implying that one cannot be both a catholic and a democrat at the same time. Is that your position, sir, she should have said, that because one is a catholic, one can not be a democrat at the same time? Aren't you pushing the notion that a catholic can only be a republican? And of course, since THAT IS his position, he would have had to say, homina homina homina, if Susan would have only asked that question. But she did not.
Instead, Susan just did her usual laughing and joking about the serious routine and she left the impression that this NUTJOB, this man with whom she was debating, who wants to play politics with sacred religion, had some kind of credibility. (Jimmy Swaggart had more credibility than this guy, in my view, because at least Jimmy kept his "religion" separate from politics, where it belonged.)
One day, when the more reasonable side of the debate is "allowed" to to be presented on tv, in other words, when a debate includes spokespeople who will fight these nutjobs, these, um, people, who have taken their message beyond the 700 club and unto the constitution of the United States, i'll turn the tv back on.
For now, it's still too sad to try and watch MSM and the mostly lame so-called "liberal" and needlessly apologetic, so-called spokespeople on TV refusing to call a spade a spade.
