Alabama 2004 school vote/segregationists on freeperville
Remember the story about the constitional amendment in Alabama in 2004 that would have taken out of the state constition a mandate for the segregation of "white and colored children" that failed (this again, in the year 2004). The amdendment was called "Amendment 2." Well I was trolling on the freeperville archives and found this:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1294169/posts

One freeper saying:
"I voted against ammendment 2"
Another:
"I admire the people of Alabama for doing the right thing."
Another:
"Now Alabama is even more Red than they already were. "

Alabama is a piss hole and this just proves this even more. They want to be treated like victims for being treated negatively by the press. Apparently these simple minded people don't understand that you have to earn respect.

2. Well excuse the fuck out of us...
It's not like each and every Alabama resident supports this crap, it's the "Christian" Coalition lobbyists who rally the faithful against this change every time it comes up.
Oh, since we're the shithole of the nation, please make certain that you refuse the AIDS/HIV vaccine that UAB is working on with some success. Don't buy a Honda, Hyundai, or Mercedes M-Class either, since they're all made by a bunch of knuckle-dragging hicks. Also, better knock Toyota off your purchase list as well since many of their engines are made here. Geez, and people wonder why so many believe Rush Limbaugh is right about the "liberal elitist" shit!

10. Russ Finegold v. John Kerry..
At least Finegold came here. Yep, there are a lot of poor people here, but with the Democratic Party writing off the entire state, they don't see any interest in exploring a party that has forsaken them. I mean, look at the perception, we've got a major medical research university, a NASA facility, major manufacturing with four different successful automakers, and we're still defined by a caricature that may have been accurate thirty years ago. The fact that Kerry didn't even bother to stop here made most people believe that he didn't give a crap about this state. Finegold, going on Howard Dean's strategy, is obviously trying to change that.

13. ssssshhhh -- let's keep it a secret
Let people continue to think that about Alabama if they like. I love hospitable people. And I love :loveya: the pristine pine forests, clean fresh water lakes, and temperate climate all within an easy driving distance of inexpensive universities, world class hospitals and big city amenities. I would love to move back to Alabama and I can't wait to visit on my vacation this summer. I wouldn't want it to get crowded and expensive ;)

14. I'm walking distance to major hospitals.
The SO and I calculated it the other night, we have eight major critical care hospitals within a ten mile radius. Additionally, I'm walking distance to UAB, including the main campus, genetic research facility, medical school, dental school, and bio-engineering department.

15. I graduated from UAB
in 1986 and moved to Ohio for a job...and you know I was as well prepared as the new hires from the ivy league schools that started with me. I'll be in So. Alabama (on Lake Martin) in July. If Birmingham du'ers have a get together around then, please give me a holler. I'd love to stop by and say hi.

3. Interesting that you are keeping your own home state carefully hidden
on your profile. The people who start these pointless, stupid, divisive bashing threads generally do that.

12. No, I just see shit-stirring for what it is.
I also have a pretty good eye for comically unwarranted self-righteousness.
