Fuck you Bush if you can't stand a little politics getting in the way

:grr:

From the New York Times

Mr. Bush used a gathering of insurance agents and brokers, where his scheduled address was on Social Security, to stand up for Mr. Bolton, whose nomination appears to be in danger.

"I welcome you to the nation's capital, where sometimes politics gets in the way of doing the people's business," Mr. Bush said early on. "Take John Bolton, the good man I nominated to represent our country at the United Nations.

"John's distinguished career in service to our nation demonstrates that he is the right man at the right time for this important assignment. I urge the Senate to put aside politics and confirm John Bolton to the United Nations."

This isn't a fucking dictatorship asshole!!! THis is a democracy and it's your own party that is starting to balk on this asshole who uses bullying tactics to anyone who disagrees with you. This is NOT what we should be sending to the UN, we should be sending him to WWE where he can have an entire ring to bully other people

:grr:

1. Well said
LynneSin. How anyone can't see this and call it what it is amazes me.

2. It isn't politics
It is the Senate's duty to reject unfit nominees. It's only politics if they reject the fit ones.

15. No, It Is Fucking Politics
That's what politicians do. It's not a dirty word. They are doing their damn job, it's just that Georgie doesn't like it because he isn't getting his way.

pol·i·tics (pŏl'ĭ-tĭks) n.
The art or science of government or governing, especially the governing of a political entity, such as a nation, and the administration and control of its internal and external affairs.

17. Nevertheless
Accusations of politicians 'playing politics' is widely understood to mean that the legislator in question is putting the good of their career or their party ahead of the good of the nation (and ahead of doing the job they were elected for).

That is not the case when a bad nominee is rejected.

18. It Is Arrogance For Bush to Suggest That Politics Be Put Aside
When it comes to nominees. It's about politics. That's what this is. That's what all of it is, that's what they do. Politics doesn't get in the way of the people's work, politics IS the people's work.

If you take politics out of the nomination process, what is left? Rubber stamping. That's what Bush wants, that's what he's upset that he's not getting. We shouldn't go around saying that this isn't about politics... of COURSE it's about politics. That's the whole damn point.

24. I hear you
I think we're just debating the meaning of the words.

I take your point that politics is political and we shouldn't run scared from the word.

But aside from that, there is such a thing as putting winning ahead of serving your country, which is what the Dems are being accused of. What I'm saying is that while a lot of politicians are guilty of just that -- putting themselves and their party ahead of their duty -- that is not a fair description of what the Dems are doing.

3. So, how do you really feel about him Lynne?
I think its funny, this administration is too fucking stupid to realize when it has been beaten the way it has on this nomination. More to come but it ain't time to put our lightsabers away just yet. Not by a long shot.

9. Oh no, they're smart enough to know this is power politics
But Stupidhead is hoping that the rubes he's selling this line to don't understand the difference. If he can dress this up as "the Democrats are playing politics" and get people to believe it, then Bolton's hideously unqualified nominations gets a chance to muddle through.

What IS offensive, however, is reporting in the media that parrots the Bush administration line about "the people's business" when Stupidhead conducts his entire life without any regard to the people he's supposed to be serving. His appeal to doing the people's business is disingenuous, and the folks covering him know that as well as he does. Yet they never call him on it.

Which explains why he keeps selling snake oil to the rubes, because he knows the media will never call his political nostrums snake oil.

13. Agree! The appeal to doing "the people's business" is TOTAL BS,...
,...and NO ONE calls him on his intentional manipulation of reality (e.g. MISREPRESENTATION/LIE/DECEPTION) to the American people.

It makes me wanna' YACK! :puke:

and thought WTF ? Such an unbelievable misrepresentation.

The guy is a mean spirited bully, an absolute thug, who is completely incapable of diplomacy.

But the * administration's incessant noise machine can only dismiss any form of well thought out rebuttal and dissent as "politics", "attacking those of true faith & values," and "terrorism."

'Scuse me while. . . " my head explodes.

Insert Hendrix guitar riff >>>>>>>>>here.
