Nazi occupiers’ HQ may have been in Shropshire
April 21, 2005

Times

By David Sanderson

WARTIME documents revealing Hitler’s invasion plan for Britain suggest the town of Bridgnorth in Shropshire had been chosen as his headquarters.

The maps and papers profile 300 British towns and show strategic areas for attack by the Luftwaffe, such as stations, power plants and bridges. Among the maps is an enlarged plan of Bridgnorth — with the town circled and lines of communication to villages in the area.

Richard Westwood-Brookes, a documents expert for the auctioneers Mullock Madley, said of Bridgnorth that “it has an airbase, it is in the middle of nowhere but in a central location so it would be a perfect spot to defend a British or American counter attack”.

The maps had been discovered in a military installation in Belgium by a British soldier following D-Day.

2. Golly.
If they had been successful, would the Brits be tea-drinking surrender monkeys?

3. They Would Never Have Surrendered
they would have fought on the beaches, they would have fought on the landing grounds, they would have fought in the fields and in the streets, they would have fought in the hills. They would never have surrendered.

Well, maybe not. But that's what Churchill said.

4. Wasn't that the theme of the film, "The Aerodrome"?

A thriller, like "Fatherland", but set in an a fictional Nazi-dominated Britain.

Still waiting for Stone to make the film about the American fascists who planned a 1934 coup to replace FDR with Gen. Douglas McArthur (who was smart enough to turn the plotters down -- odd, he didn't seem to have gotten into trouble for failing to report the offer).
