2. Was born in North York which was part of metro Toronto but now live in
Calgary. I just got the impression about how all this "Bin Laden hates the Western World" stuff was just bullcrap.

4. I think the World Trade Centre proves there is a bit of hatred there
There was also the attack in Bali.

Do I think threats being made public and raising the alert level was sometimes done for political reasons, sure. That doesn't mean that there aren't real threats.

Canada's not that significant of a country and the CN tower is a tourist attraction.

We should count our blessings.

6. Maybe on second thought we also couldn't attack any Mideastern country
even if we wanted to though 25 years ago if the Iranians had caught him, I am sure we would have had to tie yellow ribbons on behalf of Amb Taylor too for the Iranians surely would have taken him hostage.

9. Second...What?
Canada isn't in the habit of attacking countries.

The US is the biggest target because...lots of reasons...they are the superpower, they're good at pissing people off, they can be arrogant.

I think every nation needs to be vigilant about terrorism, it's not exactly a new phenomenon.

8. Good thing too
I love the view from the CN tower. It's one of those things you have to witness in life. Also the streets of Toronto, I witnessed one hell of a protest there. Paddy wagons and mounted cops and all after I got off the tower.

3. Seconded : What?
Um, I believe our (skewed as it may be) terror warning system might just be related to within our borders. No offense. The US is the imperialist bastard, remember?

7. bin Laden does not
'hate the western world' nor does he hate 'freedom'

As he said himself, it wasn't Sweden that got attacked, but the US.

He has no animosity to Canada, and we are not under any terrorist threat.

The only possible place for an attack in Canada would be Calgary. Lots of Americans, and lots of oil money. Nothing to do with Canada per se.
