The guy seems conservative, reactionary, but to call him a Nazi is unfair. Infact, I think that that term is thrown around far too loosely.

3. The desertion thing is interesting ....

because at the end of WW2 quite a few Nazi's deserted to Western Allied Forces (to become POW's) for fear of what the Russians would do to them, if caught by that side of the conflict.
