Bush & wife offer Pope Benedict congratulations.
He looked almost giddy that Ratzinger was elected, IMHO.


Bush said something to the effect of. "Pope Benedict is a man of great wisdom & knowledge who serves the lord".

Can't help but think how cheery Bush & LaLa must be because Ratzinger basically screwed Kerry with the catholic vote. I know at least 10 different people- from different parishes- who were told NOT to bother voting if they were going to vote for Kerry b/c he was ok with abortion. In Bush's mind the new pope is just a guarantee that any Democratic Catholic wont get a vote after Ratzinger is done with him.
