now his grandson controls the world's superpower.

Ratzinger was a member of Hitler's youth and today he was named Pope.

33. I tried to trace the Rove-Nazi story back to its source. Retracted.
Edited on Wed Apr-20-05 10:46 AM by leveymg
The story that Rove's grandfather was high Nazi official reponsible for constructing a concentration camp was withdrawn by the authors. I do not know sources they relied on. See:

http://www.commondreams.org/views03/1006-08.htm

reprints a 2003 story in the Columbus, OH Free Press:

http://www.freepress.org/departments.php?strFunc=display&strID=386&strYear=2003&strDept=20

Contains this retraction:

According to Bob Woodward’s Bush at War, Bush attended a New York Yankees game soon after the September 11 World Trade Center disaster. He wore a fireman’s jacket. As he threw out the first pitch, the crowd roared. Thousands of fans stuck out their arms with thumbs up.

Karl Rove, sitting in the box of Yankee owner George Steinbrenner, likened the roar of the crowd to “a Nazi rally.”

Apparently he would know.

*Due to the retraction of allegations by a source in the original version of the story, Dr. Fitrakis and Mr. Wasserman have reworked this article. For additional comments about the Rove allegations, and the original version of this text, please view our Letters to the Editor: www.freepress.org/departments.php?strFunc=display&strDept=10

There's enough real dirt out there linking the Bushes with Nazi Germany and the int'l fascist movement. Until we can come up with a better source for the Rove-Nazi grandfather angle, we might avoid repeating it.

Anyone know of another source for this?

41. This is "real dirt" & has NOT been retracted by anyone.
Newsweek article on Bush/Nazi connection
“Bush - Nazi Dealings Continued Until 1951” - Federal Documents
Karl Rove's grandfather was Karl Heinz Roverer, the Gauleiter of Oldenburg. Roverer was Reich-Statthalter---Nazi State Party Chairman---for his region. He was also a partner and senior engineer in the Roverer Sud-Deutche Ingenieurburo A. G. engineering firm, which built the Birkenau death camp,
still, that's ancient history. Surely bush wouldn't be repeating the actions of fascist dictators. Or would he?

However, I know nothing about this new Pope.

11. Isn't it funny
how the new Pope was elected the day before Hitler's birthday and everything with that prediction and the whole rumor of him being tied to the Nazi's? On this other board I go on someone was posting and saying how the people of Germany did NOT want him to be Pope. They said they saw some special on the guy and according to the special they claimed to not find ties to him with the Nazi's. I asked where they saw it so I'll report back after.

15. That MAY be so, but, as an adult he certainly supports theo-fascism today.
Edited on Tue Apr-19-05 01:08 PM by blm
I will judge him exactly for his own philosophies as an adult. Since his adult philosophy comports with the authoritarian fascist, I have no problem with my original post.

I KNOW the fundie Catholics well. It was the Catholic fundamentalists in the US that even support the White Supremacist movement. I KNOW because my mother joined with these fools back in the early 70s and turned away from the Catholic teachings of faith, hope and charity, and became a political arch-conservative in the name of a far-right brand of catholicism that took over her life.

They scorn the catholics who do the real work of the Lord, the ones who feed, clothe and nurse the poor and the weak.

Not all criticisms of a CERTAIN Catholicism come from those who haven't known it.

Why do YOU not recognize the difference between the two different types of Catholics?

BTW...I would love your post to stay, so you really should edit out the name-calling.

16. And that kid stayed with the Nazi army
in and out until 1945.

Try to educate yourself first.

Next up, I don't know how thinking a man who served the Nazi army for two years with no resistance (while JP2 was in a camp FOR resistance) and has since come out as an avowed anti-Semite who thinks that all Jews are Hellbound and even entering a synagogue is a mortal sin implies one is a Klansman. Keep the attacks down a notch.

Third, learn to spell asinine.

Jews, Catholics, Muslims, GLBT community, disabled... EVERYONE should be outraged damn it. Bush is busy making sure disabled and other "undesirables" are being starved out here and now we have a Nazi pope to lead Europe along with the US. This faux "let's support the pope" is really upsetting me. Catholics were rounded up too and the church turned its face away. I am pissed damn it!!!!

19. I don't think people realize, the Nazi philosophy NEVER died.
It's still very much alive and the hatred of its message can be heard around the world.

We'd managed to keep it in check for a long time. But now, I'm worried, not just because of the Pope but because of the nexus of power represented by Bush, and the promulgation of hate literature and speeches all over the world.

This is not a time to hide our heads in the sand, or try to pretend these are free speech issues.

He stayed AFTER his tour
He has never apologized for it
Bush pushed him as the "front runner" (Bush family Nazi financial ties, k?)

If that were not enough, he does not acknowledge any "church" or religion as validate outside of the Catholic church.

Do tell me who "they" are as I am anxious to get together with the rest of "them" to plan the new world order.

36. "Stayed after his tour"? What are you talking about?
WW2 wasn't Vietnam. There's no "tour"...German soldiers had three ways to get home: in victory, defeat, or in a box.

Listen, I'm not defending the man as a pope. But there's loads of false perceptions about his service and what average citizens faced in wartime Germany floating about, and if you're judging him on THAT, then you're missing the bigger story.

The man's the worse choice they could have made, and not for what he did as a teenaged boy. Look at the big picture.

37. tour, okay...
I used wrong wording as I am not up on my German conscription terminology... whatever. The point is he stayed on voluntarily. Frankly, even if this is not the issue, the rest is... namely, that all other religions are a heresy or are inferior to his, his views on homosexuality, and also I might add his little help with the Bush camp in the "deny communion" thing. I am tired and frankly, sick of this entire conversation. He was a poor choice on many levels and I think I have some company in that sentiment.

42. Bush - Nazi Link Confirmed
Unfortunately, Corporate McPravda doesn't want to touch it with a ten-foot Dutchman.

Of course, Poppy's little turd from Crawford ruled that no one can see pretzeldentul papers, ever.

Bush - Nazi Link Confirmed

By by John Buchanan
from The New Hampshire Gazette Vol. 248, No. 1, October 10, 2003

WASHINGTON - After 60 years of inattention and even denial by the U.S. media, newly-uncovered government documents in The National Archives and Library of Congress reveal that Prescott Bush, the grandfather of President George W. Bush, served as a business partner of and U.S. banking operative for the financial architect of the Nazi war machine from 1926 until 1942, when Congress took aggressive action against Bush and his "enemy national" partners.

The documents also show that Bush and his colleagues, according to reports from the U.S. Department of the Treasury and FBI, tried to conceal their financial alliance with German industrialist Fritz Thyssen, a steel and coal baron who, beginning in the mid-1920s, personally funded Adolf Hitler's rise to power by the subversion of democratic principle and German law.

Furthermore, the declassified records demonstrate that Bush and his associates, who included E. Roland Harriman, younger brother of American icon W. Averell Harriman, and George Herbert Walker, President Bush's maternal great-grandfather, continued their dealings with the German industrial baron for nearly eight months after the U.S. entered the war.

No Story?

For six decades these historical facts have gone unreported by the mainstream U.S. media. The essential facts have appeared on the Internet and in relatively obscure books, but were dismissed by the media and Bush family as undocumented diatribes. This story has also escaped the attention of "official" Bush biographers, Presidential historians and publishers of U.S. history books covering World War II and its aftermath.

The White House did not respond to phone calls seeking comment.
