So how BAD is Ratiznger?
I dont know much or anything about him BUT that he was a Nazi or a member of the Nazi party. How does he stand on issues and how far back will he turn the church.

1. Well, he was a member of the Hitler Youth
But that was mandatory for German children at the time, so it's not necessarily fair to hold that against him.

He is a knuckle-dragging conservative though.

12. Even if you can't blame the Hitler Youth
on him, it still probably had an influence on him and how he might think. Then again maybe not.

17. I think their parents
had to decide whether their children should be allowed to be considered an enemy of the state or not. It is interesting the anti-Nazi pope was followed by one that was in the Hitler Youth though.

is rolling over in his grave. He fought the Nazis (79th Infantry Div.). He was also Catholic.

5. He is incredibly right wing.

It's odd he chose Benedict as his name, the last benedict was a moderate. Anyway, note the pope's shift to the right as he got sicker. I blame that squarely on Ratzinger.

16. When I was a kid it was a sin to go into a Protestant church. I wonder if
"we" will go back to that. I'm sure my loony right wing relatives who are so far to the right they thought Pope JP II was a left wing nut will be thrilled.
