The Lies We Tell Ourselves Are The Most Damaging Ones In The End.
Edited on Tue Apr-19-05 06:54 AM by KlatooBNikto
The Lies we have been subjected to relentlessly for the past forty odd years are catching up and reaching a critical mass with this vile administration.I will briefly list a few, you can add or subtract what you like:

1.We are winning the war on Iraq.
2.The tortures of prisoners were not sanctioned by the administration.
3.George W.Bush was elected fairly in a clean election,twice.
4. Saddam Hussein was linked to Al-Qaeda ( which may or may not even exist as an organization).
5.Saddam Hussein was developing Nuclear weapons. He bought yellowcake from Niger for that purpose.
6. He also had tons of Chemical and Biological weapons and the means to deliver them.

7.9/11 was carried out by Arab terrorists who did not know how to fly piper cubs let alone Boeing 707s.

8. Cheney and Rumsfeld stonewalled all Congressional investigations because they didn't want liberals to stop the war on terrorism.

9.Bush is serious about fighting terrorism.

10. Bush's tax cuts are benefiting our economy.

11. The Bush Administration provides honest accounting of the costs of war, both monetary and bloody.

12. Bush loves Democracy and Freedom so much he wants to export it to other countries even if we run out of stock here at home.

2. Wait, this was missing...
#11: Jesus really did ban gay marriage, and made thousands of laws unconstitutional because he elected George Bush to the pulpit in order to save the world and bring the rapture.

4. Would rapture cause uncontrollable multiple orgasms in men and
women? That would make it unacceptable to Christian Fundamentalist kill joys,I think.

6. Nah, those tightasses would need
an Orgasmatron to reach multiple orgasm... and even then it would be an unforgivable sin against God.

5. one of the largest , IMO
is that our various wars on abstractions ('terror' and 'drugs') are in some way winnable and noble.

7. A recent Harper Mag issue had an interesting item.It asked people
in Vietnam what questions they would like to ask Americans the most. The overwhelming choice was: Why is America always involved in some war or another?

8. that's a very good question
for a 'peace-loving' people we sure do spend alot of time and money and blood on making war, apparently for nothing more than sadistic pleasure of doing so, coupled with some perceived need for a resource of one type or another.

With the exception of only a few scattered years, this country has been involved in one type of war or another consistently since its inception. :-(

10. "It's better to tell the Truth"
was the name of an interview I did with Onondaga Chief Paul Waterman in 1994. {AHSKWA; Volume 13; pages 8-9; Jotowe'Go:Nah} My final question was in regard to what message he, as a Wisdom Keeper, had for non-Indian people. His answer has always impressed me:

"You own your lies. And even if it takes a while, every lie you tell will eventually catch up to you. So try very hard to tell the truth. This is what I think. It's better to tell the truth."

That message is so very different from what non-traditional society teaches.

11. Four Trillion dollars missing from the US Treasury
and no one knows who has it or where is?!? Never mind, everything is fine. Only 500 years at 10 billion a year to pay it back.
