How to talk to a W believer
Sapph found this and sent me to read it. After reading it, I had to share it with you guys!

I think people are interested in why a W Believer stays one and why some leave, so I thought I would talk to you about it.

I was a W Believer for years. I gave them over two hundred thousand dollars of my own money. In fact, until earlier this year I still considered myself a W Believer.

There is a lot of information that W Faith is destructive. Yet, as you may know, it is almost impossible to talk about these things with a dedicated W Believer. I hope to give you some clues.

You might wonder how I decided to leave. After all, my parents tried to talk me out of it. My sister tried to talk me out of it. My friends tried to talk me out of it. None succeeded.

Go read the rest. It is truly worth it: http://www.preemptivekarma.com/archives/2005/04/how_to_talk_to.html

3. Excellent read.
Scary how cultish it is, but very telling.

6. Yeah!
It really is scary! I never looked at it as being a cult before. But this truly is an eye opener. Especially when you consider the source the person used to write it.

10. All you have to do
is look at how things are run and you can believe it's cultish. How the really hard core people are. I was watching this weekend Truthout's red state road trip thing and one time they're in Crawford and a few of the people interviewed of course were Bush supporters and told about the local paper that got ragged on for supporting Kerry. They're fucking crazy.

13. Yeah!
They truly are fucking crazy! But when one becomes involved in a cult, who isn't crazy? Brainwashing really affects a persons judgment.

17. Read that, as well. You're Absolutely Correct.
And to think how they use the Media to "twist" what they are in reality "committing," over to the Dems'. Nuttin' like controlling the media.

Is it any wonder they control what American's think and believe. Imagine how long and how much $$ it took them to get Chimp Boy in.

They barely heard the name "Kerry," throughout the bible-belt.

21. Don't forget to read the note at the end...
Read the original HOW TO TALK TO A SCIENTOLOGIST by Michael Tilse.

The changes I made were: replace Scientologist with W Believer; replace Scientology with W Faith; replace study and counseling with watching Fox News and reading Drudge; replace bigamist with cokehead. And a few cuts for brevity. But really that's all... explains a lot, doesn't it?

I was taken aback at some of the "W Faith", "W Believer" terminology, too, until I read the end. And the cult similarities are right on the money.

4. Thanks for the post.
I made it to..."How do you talk to a W Faith? First, you have to care." That's where I had to stop. I do not, will not, would not ever care about a "W Faith." I just can't do it. Not after what they have done to this country.

Not care for the faith, but the people trapped in a cult is what the author is saying.

9. Mass hypnosis-- not a new theory.
They behave exactly like a cult. I believe, to some extent, they have been brainwashed. For some it's too late-- the ones who saw the light have bailed on W.

What we need is a massive intervention!!!!

11. No it isn't a new theory...
...but this is the first time I have seen it used to describe Bush* believers. It certainly put the whole thing into a different perspective for me.

We do need a massive intervention. But what, and how?

25. I had heard the hypnotism theory advanced prior to the 2004
Edited on Tue Apr-19-05 10:07 PM by ailsagirl
election. I remember a woman called one of the Air America programs. She was a hypnotherapist and she said she noticed that certain behaviors his followers displayed (such as, the narrow range of focus, the incredible refusal to see what was really going on, etc.) reminded her of people under hypnosis.

Then there was the PIPA study that concluded that many * followers were suffering from "gross cognitive dissonance."

But I've never seen a first person narrative about it. Thanks for sharing that-- I found it interesting... and chilling.

Much like the Moonies-- which, in light of the fact that the "reverend" sun yung moon is a HUGE contributor to the rethugs, makes me wonder if there's any connection.

Steve Soto from The Left Coaster put it well, I thought:

Gross cognitive dissonance. A mass Stepford complex among Bush's masses. Legions of people who get their news from a discredited source, who are unable to confront the fact that they are being used and manipulated (see Thomas Frank's "What's The Matter With Kansas?"). These same people ascribe mainstream positions and beliefs to their leader contrary to the facts almost as if they are in denial that they fully support a man who is an extremist. As time goes on, their faith in and support of that leader grow so hardened, again stoked by a reinforcing and assistive media, that many of the masses begin imitating the characteristics of their leader, in that they believe they are infallible, more righteous than their peers, and are unwilling to admit error or facts contrary to their beliefs.

In other words, a cult.

14. I am thankful...
...that I haven't seen it. But I do know many people who have.

It is frightening, but at the same time it is very sad that so many can be so affected like that.

20. Sometimes
I wonder if I'm in the right reality. Know what I mean? I feel like I'm trapped in this bizare world, but thank goodness for places like this where I know I'm not a lone. It feels like a really fucked up Twilight Zone episode or Stephen King movie.

I'm gay! NO! I have never been a Bushdot. I didn't write the article, neither did Sapph. She found it and sent me to have a read of it. From there I decided to post it here.
