At least, that's what I was paid to work when I got a job as a teenager in 1965. And gas was 30 cents a gallon.
Which kinds gives you a perspective on the price of gas, but no one likes to talk about that. They want cheap gas AND no use of the military to steal it from the middle east.
13. Well said. Gas was the equivalent of $3.00 / gallon in 1981,
and I remember people complaining, but not acting like it was the end of the world like many are doing now.
We grew up poor, so gasoline was ALWAYS expensive to my parents.
Too many people in this country have come to think it's some kind of right that the cost of fuel for a trip should be so low as to not be a factor in deciding if that trip is really necessary.
7. We also got our windshields washed and the oil and tires checked.
And we never had to get out of our cars. Self service was unheard of. We even charged our groceries at the neighborhood store. Dad paid the bill every payday. No interest. No hassle.
