If this were a novel......
I was thinking about the situation we are in - * running the country and all. I began to think of where this would lead if we were written into this novel we are living.

* was allegedly picked because he basically was not smart and did not think for himself. They (Cheney, Rice, etc....) picked him and shaped the country so they could get into a position of power.

They have GOT to be thinking about the next election. No one plans that much without thinking ahead, right? They can not take a chance with someone they are not familiar with, someone who could clean house. They have not come this far to lose.

This brings me to the next plot in the novel. (disclosure: I am not putting this out there for conspiracy theorists, this is all just in fun.) They will need to 'sElect' someone who they completely trust. The obvious choice would be Cheney himself.

I do not think Cheney is *that* electable. So wouldn't it be great if he could slide into that position? They could have it all!

One cold night Bush would go out to his limo and inexplicably his car would blow up. It would be blamed on terrorists and thus the next war would be waged where ever they need it to be. This would happen about half way through Bush's term and Cheney would have two years to establish himself.

The admin would go about their business pumping up polls saying that while numbers had greatly fallen for Bush, the country seems to have faith in Cheney. They would produce high (padded numbers) and he would become the Republican candidate for the next election. And, of course, all the fixes are in with the voting booths anyway and Cheney walks away with a HUGE percentage of the votes. In the novel we are then stuck with Cheney for eight years! (If there is anything left of the country by that time)

I do not want this post to be confused and people to think I am advocating the death of Bush or Cheney becoming President. I am not doing either. I was just passing on what was going through my mind earlier today and wanted to share. Some people may want to encourage the death of murder of judges.....I encourage the murder of no one!

energizer bunny to be this character. More likely Cheney will step aside "for health reasons" so that the next candidate of the evil empire can be appointed Vice-President and "serve" for a while.

Edited to put quotes around "serve."
