Righties getting mad at me
I'm sorry I can't take it anymore. There is a message board I go to that is probably about 50/50 dems and repubs. The repubs are way more vocal though.

There is a news and debate section and I post news articles, a few random celebrity news articles and usually a few news articles about Bush that aren't that pleasant but are always from a reliable news source and well written.

You should hear the repubs whine about it. "It gets old reading all this negative Bush stuff" " I don't need to read or watch the news for *myself* to learn about everything Bush is doing wrong. I am always lucky enough to find it posted here!" etc etc

Well I would get ticked, but I never really said anything a few dems would come to my rescue and say well hey just don't read the threads.

But today is the boiling point... ugh. I posted something.. again from a reliable news source, and well written (trying to show both sides) and had to hear crap.

Why is it they can't take someone even posting on a message board articles critical of Dubya??? Am I missing something? It's a free country? I'm just not understanding how just because they voted for Bush they should not have to set their eyes on anything critical of the person they voted for. Heck if I vote for someone I want to know damn sure what they are doing, and no need to sugar coat it. I want the truth. I would be more critical of the person I voted for.

1. They don't want to hear it...
Because it screws with the self-identifying worldview. They don't want anything to invade the reality they have built for themselves.

Remember: many of them listen to squawk radio. That is the reality they accept. Nothing else will do.

God, make this crap stop. Please. Bring us some sanity.

2. you're lucky
your username isn't obviously Islamic like mine. I've been to boards like that and the freeps instantly characterize me as a devil-terrorist and tell me to go back to my country (whereupon I ask how many of them can trace their ancestry to the Mayflower like I can).

These people literally think Bush is God, and they won't abide by anything else. I can only say that I think the internet tends to bring out the worst of them. I've been talking face to face to many conservatives, even some fundamentalist Christians, and they haven't all drunk the Kool Aid.

3. Kool Aid
Very powerful. They are like human mushrooms, they actively persue darkness rather than light. Also they are basically assholes.

4. I'm tired of reading about Bush's fuck ups, too.
So I wish he'd stop fucking up.

They feel better when they're ignorant? Is that what they're saying?

9. Seems like it
They like you to lie to them. They don't like to think dear leader, or any president, can be corrupt. :eyes:

5. They're getting nervous....desparate even....
That is why they are over-reacting. Its difficult to accept you have
supported a guy who is at best a clown, at worst a crook. So you up
your denial and focus your rage on the messenger.

6. Cognitive Dissonance.
It is a very real psychological condition.

It means not being able to hold two diametrically opposed ideas at the same time.

Like the Pope being a supporter of the "culture of Life" and not being a supporter of the Iraq war or capital punishment.

To a Bush supporter, they can't admit that the Pope was not a Bush supporter, or a fan of American conservative policies.

7. Honey, the stories I could tell YOU!
I used to do the same thing. And posting *anything* about bush that isn't "slobber slobber goo gah rah rah isn't he the fucking second coming?" was like holding up garlic to a vampire. They would FREAK.

It's the same all over with them. They cannot HANDLE anything even the SLIGHTEST bit critical of Chimpy McCokeSpoon. Perhaps because they and the media spent eight years bashing Clinton six ways to Sunday and now they're afraid some chickens will come home to roost?

Fugeddabout it. They're losers who can't handle anything but fawning, face in lap admiration for little boots and his band of merry plunderers of the American way.

Why do they hate America so much?

10. Oh God
She was going to call the police because you made a joke about Ahnold? What a loser! They know we're out there and I do think they're nervous and they know they're in the minority and are losing more people everyday for the republicans outburst and their powerhungry selves.

11. You Can Fool Some Of The People Some Of The Time...
When one knows one has been lied to and is still being lied to, even when it is a lie one wants to be true, it hurts to have to admit to oneself the lie. The rank and file GOP find themselves at this point. They know they cannot keep denying the facts. Bush lied, people died and the media cheered.

When one knowingly is following a lie, and especially when one wants the lie to be true, it hurts having others point out the truth. GOP types will not thank you for being correct.

When you've been had, you hate it when others have not.

13. Too bad they're not "true conservatives"
at least some true conservatives are angry about immigration and the Patriot Act and such.

It's almost like dealing with a cult of personality, isn't it. Have we always reacted this way to our leaders after something like Pearl Harbor or 9/11 etc.?

I told my brother that Bush smeared McCain today like he did Kerry, and my brother said it wasn't true. Why? Because Fox News didn't say it?
