And had TIME magazine followed the news cycle last year, they'd have know this. FOX News got duped by the group, the group was uncovered, and now TIME republishes the photo saying that it's a real group protesting Coulter, when it's really a GOP group pretending to be "communists for Kerry" in order to make Kerry and the Dems look bad."

Once upon a time, TIME magazine was considered a news magazine.
Now your cover "girl" Ann Coulter shows your depth of understanding
of reality once and for all. Conferring honors on a hate and lie monger
like this person is nothing but bizarre.
I wonder just how much of the article is close to accurate, I know
for a fact that one of the photos you used for your cover story is a phony made up by a conservative hate group.
It is a photo of some idiot holding up an anti-coulter sign. Behind that one is another saying "criminals for gun control" come on, guys, check your sources. Isn't that a tenet of journalism?

Time magazine -
I was pretty disgusted to see you use one of your images of a group and a poster 'protesting' Ann Coulter in your most recent edition. The poster claims to be from CommunistsForKerry.com, which should have been your first clue it was a fake. I had seen the photo before, back when it had been run by FOX News as real and then debunked for the fake protest it was. The group in the photo was the "protest warriors", as you can see on the other fake signs.

To run it on the premise that it was an anti-Coulter or pro-Kerry rally is really a stupid mistake. Anyone who takes a few minutes to read the signs in the photo or who has been reasonably aware of the news over the last year (I don't work at an international news magazine and I remember this) would have--SHOULD have--known, or been clever enough to deduce from the ample evidence, that this was a fake protest made for the purpose of furthering Coulter's and conservative causes.

I find it strange that none of the clues or the previous exploration of the photo stopped it from making it past your editing room. Maybe in the future try keeping a small note next to each photograph that says what the photograph's context was, because sometimes context is important for news reports. I hope you take the chance in your next issue to correct the mistake. I'll be watching.

The New Yorker printed pictures of Billionaires for Bush, but that doesn't mean they didnt understand that it was an anti-bush group.
