Mexican Leftist Prez.candidate not allowed to Run.
Below is a link to story about Mexico City Mayor Orbador..PRI controlled Congress to disallow his right to run...Mexico has the right to disallow candidates if they claim they have some kind of legal infraction...This is some kind of misdemeanor...Story not clear..As mayor, he allowed some kind of construction code violation in reagards to builing roads....
Mexico is up in arms...the mayor wants significant revisions in Nafta....These are trumpted up charges to disallow a candidate that polls show will likely win..Mexico is supposed to have a national day of protest April 24...These past couple days over 300,000 people turned out before the National Congress...
Canada goes left, George will be alone in his red state status in all of the Western Hemisphere...The leader of this hemisphere might be president Lula of Brazil..see link. part of news excerpt first.

In Mexico, turmoil and confusion continue to surround the upcoming presidential election. Last week, the Mexican federal Congress voted to impeach one of the leading candidates from his job as mayor of Mexico City. The politician –– Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador –– is now facing arrest over a minor four-year-old infraction. Once an arrest warrant is issued, he could lose his political rights and be barred from running for the presidency. Lopez Obrador has been comfortably leading opinion polls for next year"s elections to replace Mexican President Vicente Fox who cannot run again.

2. If this happened in the US
We would probably send some emails, sign some petitions, hold a protest or two, and then let them get away with it. That's all we seem capable of anymore.

3. Radical..Yes..The American people are sheep..
I think if we did have a military coup,no one would care! Some of us do get out, but few in number- except for the Repug's convention last summer in NYC...But,we know in the future Scalia will allow NYC to be fenced in and "Escape from New York" will likely result..
But, for those of us who do care..On Mexico's national day of protest on April 24, wish we had some kind of US action on this side 0f the border to support those in Mexico who are fighting for their freedoms.

4. I know some people in Mexico City who must be furious about this...
I hope that the people put a huge amount of public pressure to drop the charges.
