Carter warned about Peak Oil
I don't know if y'all have seen this or if this has been talked about so I just thought I'd post this.

Snip: <Primary Sources: The President's Proposed Energy Policy

Jimmy Carter delivered this televised speech on April 18, 1977.

Tonight I want to have an unpleasant talk with you about a problem unprecedented in our history. With the exception of preventing war, this is the greatest challenge our country will face during our lifetimes. The energy crisis has not yet overwhelmed us, but it will if we do not act quickly.

It is a problem we will not solve in the next few years, and it is likely to get progressively worse through the rest of this century.

We must not be selfish or timid if we hope to have a decent world for our children and grandchildren.

We simply must balance our demand for energy with our rapidly shrinking resources. By acting now, we can control our future instead of letting the future control us.>

3. I don't think so.
Ever since 9/11, Jesus turned away from America for being too liberal and too accepting of homosexuality. All things promised by the Bible are off the table unless you promise to pray really, really hard and be really, really good.

6. However
All that is needed is faith. Being good and praying aren't required. Once saved, always saved. I could do as I please once saved.

I'm glad I have my altima. Gas lasts a good while in the car and I don't go out too much anyways. Down the road gas is $2.21 while a block or so away it's around $2.

5. Carter ... a man ahead of his times
Well, not really. Everyone else was behind the power curve. Stupid us. We elected Reagan. A 100 years from now, if people are writing about these times, they will stand bewildered at our lack of vision.

7. along came Reagan
Carter had solar panels installed on the roof of the White House, and developed a policy that included tax credits and research grants for solar and renewable energy. Reagan dismantled all of the above after he was elected.

8. I'm not surprised
*sigh* I didn't know that about the White House and solar pannels. I think we could still use them today. One thing I really loved about Kerry was his enviornment stand and how he wanted to work towards independent energy. I'm a big-time enviornmental freak so I loved that idea.

9. Yup, that fuckhead Ray-gun certainly set us up for peak oil.
Shortsighted, mean old man. Glad he's gone, but unfortunately, he left us with quite a mess.
