:wtf: I've lived in Virginia my whole life and I am just now finding this out. Anybody know anything about Tim Kaine, that is who the Dems are running. He is the current Lt. Governor.

5. What issues is he liberal on?
Reaching Out To Religion

Meet Tim Kaine.

His views on abortion are roughly in line with those of George W. Bush. He thinks John Kerry spent too much time on the campaign trail talking about windsurfing and not enough time talking about God.

And the Democratic National Committee (DNC) is spending an unprecedented $5 million to help him get elected governor of Virginia.

Kaine is expected to face conservative state Attorney General Jerry Kilgore in November in a race that officially got under way this week with the Republican challenger's announcement of his candidacy. As one of only two gubernatorial races being held this year (New Jersey is the other), Virginia's contest will be vivisected by political consultants of both parties anxious to see if there is anything capable of shifting religious voters away from the Republican Party.

This is one argument AGAINST term limits
If someone is serving very well in their elected office they should always be allowed to continue.
I think that the fundies will be glad to see warner go.... although will be quite depressed when he goes national.... he has given them a fit in the legislature as he was always able to garner support from both sides.

4. How can you write law like that?
"No one may serve a consecutive term unless they are doing a very good job"

Term limits are great. They should be applied to everything. Something is wrong when 98% of congresspeople when re-election for generations. Delay would be gone if there were term limits.

9. I'm not saying write a law like that....
I'm saying change the law in Va. so that we will able to re-elect the governor of Virginia if he wins his primary... maybe make it so that he is not the automatic incumbent

6. Actually it's a good idea..here's why
4 years is plenty of time to cook up some schemes and to "cook the books". By having a new person come in every 4 years, it's less likely that things like that could be covered up for very long..

He is up against Kilgore for governer. Kaine is a good guy, used to be mayor of Richmond.
