The economy will NOT CRASH. Not yet.
Wait for the bankruptcy bill to be signed into law by our compassionatepresident.

Then they'll be ready.

So, 6~7 months left folks. At least we can calculate the end at this point.

1. Go read...
The first post here:

http://talkingpointsmemo.com

Follow the link. It may give you a little hope that the battle is still joined and will remain so for a good while.

2. Thank you!
But I now wish I didn't send in my tax refund. Actually, most of me is glad I had. With luck I can get the debt whittled down before I lose my job...

My health is the more critical issue these days. For what it's worth.

Making bankruptcy more difficult has other, less attractive economic effects. Forced repayment plans can discourage people from working harder (or at all), since extra income simply goes to pay creditors. Making bankruptcy more unpleasant can also deter entrepreneurship; people starting businesses are often required to personally guarantee loans to their firm—and those without assets are often forced to rely on MasterCard and Visa for their seed capital.

3. I also heard that people who have experienced identity theft
wil be included in the chapter 13 part. Paying back what someone else did in your name would really be hard to swallow.

The whole thing smells.

5. I read another talking point here on the forum yesterday...
It went something like... The poor poor CC companies must be protected
from extending credit to Meth-labs.

IMHO... The Meth-people should be convicted and the CC companies should
be fined for enabling a felon.

So, in other words we're all being charged to support Meth production.
I find that hard to swallow too.

This whole bill is bad... Reminds me of a line from "Pet Sematary".
It goes something like, "The ground is sour... It has gone bad."

I'd venture to say this law is an abomination.

4. Good point...
"Forced repayment plans can discourage people from working harder (or at all)"

Wasn't that always the RWer's argument *against* socialism... Is that it
discouraged self-initiative?

HYPOCRITES! I tell ya!

10. There are plenty of non-violent ways to fight...
As Gandhi aptly pointed out.

12. I was part of the civil rights struggle and Martin Luther King had my
respect even though I hung out with Black Panthers, Viet Nam Veterans Against The War, and SDS.

13. Perhaps, "PROTEST" is a better word.
What ever it takes to see some "EFFORT" expended in
eliminating discriminatory special interest legislation.

8. There was a thread here in DU...
Which was making your point. It was locked.

In true Democratic (With a capital "D") fashion it has
been decided we will roll over instead of returning the
fight.

We didn't start this... But, we should certainly finish
it.
