Hey! Everybody! Time to take back your country!

The silent scream of numbers
The 2004 election was stolen — will someone please tell the media?

By ROBERT C. KOEHLER
Tribune Media Services

As they slowly hack democracy to death, we’re as alone — we citizens — as we’ve ever been, protected only by the dust-covered clichés of the nation’s founding: “Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty.”

It’s time to blow off the dust and start paying the price.

The media are not on our side. The politicians are not on our side. It’s just us, connecting the dots, fitting the fragments together, crunching the numbers, wanting to know why there were so many irregularities in the last election and why these glitches and dirty tricks and wacko numbers had not just an anti-Kerry but a racist tinge. This is not about partisan politics. It’s more like: “Oh no, this can’t be true.”

I just got back from what was officially called the National Election Reform Conference, in Nashville, Tenn., an extraordinary pulling together of disparate voting-rights activists — 30 states were represented, 15 red and 15 blue — sponsored by a Nashville group called Gathering To Save Our Democracy. It had the feel of 1775: citizen patriots taking matters into their own hands to reclaim the republic. This was the level of its urgency.

1. I media-blasted them -- all of them -- last night
And on dial-up. It weren't purdy but I done did my duty. Everyone else should, too.

Please tell the media!

3. They know--didn't RBHam say "they aren't on our side"?
They don't care. Everything's going smoothly for the zillionaires in the media oligarchy.

7. Also nice to get out those aggressions!
Although I didn't alter the text last night, nowadays I usually include some sarcastic or caustic comment...just so they don't mistake me for a satisfied customer.

And I know writing/calling is pretty much futile. There just aren't enough of us who are aware of how useless the CON is to make an impression on them. What keeps me going is remembering that there's no way they'll be around forever the way they're mishandling the news now. They WILL go down for their crimes against democracy. I just hope I'm still around to see it.

5. The media was complicit in the theft
Why would they admit that now?

Look, you have to face the fact that the media is owned and controlled by corporate entities who have specific goals and interests that are mostly financial. If they can give us 24 hours a day of the Michael Jackson freak show and realize a healthy profit, why change the formula?

6. The Media Is Who You Say They Are!
If you spray paint the truth on the set of CNN's "This Morning" - LIVE AND IN PERSON - they'll HAVE to cover it...

It's time to sacrifice again, as Thomas Jefferson said was necessary and which Martin Luther King proved could be done non-violently...

If EVERONE refused to pay their taxes, what would they do? If EVERYONE woke up one morning and converged on Washington demanding a change - it would happen.

Shake it up, rock their world, take it to the streets.

If you sit back and do nothing, you'll be picked off one by one...

Christ Almighty America, you're being tested again, just like during the civil rights era...

The future is in your hands.

DO THE RIGHT THING.
