Fuck this asshole (Liberal Defector Canada)
OTTAWA -- Liberal M-P Pat O'Brien will make clear his political future today.
O'Brien has called a news conference for this morning (11 a.m. ET), where he's to announce whether he will leave the Liberal party.
O'Brien, who opposed the Martin government's same-sex marriage legislation, has been courted by the Conservatives.
He has been openly musing about his future since last week's explosive allegations from the sponsorship inquiry, which have badly hurt the Liberals.

Yeah that's right you can just switch parties, because in reality you believe in nothing. Whenever an MP switches parties and automatic by-election should be held.

It's his stupid ploy to get his name in the paper.

Edit:He is hardly a Liberal he started off as a conservative.

6. He's not leaving, he has decided to stay in the Liberal party
I am surprised, to be honest, he hasn't struck me as a Liberal when he has spoken before.

7. Yeah they should boot his ass out

OTTAWA -- M-P Pat O'Brien says he's staying with the Liberals.
O'Brien, who opposed the Martin government's same-sex marriage legislation, had been courted by the Conservatives.
He had been openly musing about his future since last week's explosive allegations from the sponsorship inquiry, which have badly hurt the Liberals.

8. LOL I am curious why he stayed, what the Libs said or did
to convince him to stay. He does represent a VERY conservative riding in Ontario so I expected him to vamoose.

Any MP that supports 'separate but equal' when it comes to the rights of ALL Canadians can only be a faux Con, imo.

10. Is my memory faulty...
or didn't Paul Martin take a really long time to take a public stand on the issue of same-sex marriage?

11. All the politicians did from all parties
until an initial court decision forced Parliament to deal with the issue.

9. The Liberal Party doesn't really stand for a whole helluva lot either.
So it's not like he betrayed anything.

I do like the automatic by-election on a party switch idea though.

By the way, when are we gonna see that child care plan that was promised nearly a year ago: before or after the GST is repealed?
