If uranium enrichment is so baaaaaad for Iran and such,

why isn't the US enriching its own uranium rather than piling up stocks of it that in turn damages the environment, or how soldiers purportedly use it as a cheap weapon.

If we can reuse, why not do it? (unless it's profitability in which case I'll say "Oh. What else is new?")
