I am so frustrated with companies that rip you off with sleazy sales tactics.
I just cancelled U. S. Cellular service after being a customer since 1999 because I moved and no longer get good reception. Basically, I can't use my cell phone at home which is where I want to use it. I bought 1,000 minutes and use about 200 because of the bad reception. Called the company yesterday to see what they could do and the robots got on the phone repeating over and over to me that I would have to pay $150--scratch that $300--to cancel my contract for two cell phone lines that I can't use. Then they had the audacity to tell me how much they value my service and to try to talk me into buying something else. I forgot to mention that I moved near the lake and they told me that their service doesn't work well near large bodies of water. Still, I have to pay.
Called SBC to get land lines because I paid the damned $300 to cancel the contracts. Was going to buy DSL. Guy keeps adding in this charge and that charge (install, shipping and handling, tax, etc.) Then he tells me I have to get auto bill pay for two years. I refuse. He says I can pay $200 up front to buy their DSL. I opt to pay the $200 which goes toward my bill--along with a host of of charges.
He charges about $350 to my Visa then tells me I have to agree to a one-year contract. I lost it. I told him to cancel my order. Of course now I'll have to wait a week to get my money back into my bank account.
Screw SBC. Screw U. S. Cellular. I'm tired of being ripped off.
:wtf:
