White House: DeLay is Bush's friend, "we support the work he's doing"

President Bush considers House Majority Leader Tom DeLay a friend and hopes to keep working with him, White House spokesman Scott McClellan said Monday.

McClellan was asked if Bush was among those who believe the embattled Texas Republican should resign, or at least answer allegations of ethical misconduct.

"Majority Leader DeLay is someone the president considers a friend. And he is someone he has worked closely with to get things done in Washington," McClellan said.

"The president looks forward to continuing to work closely with the majority leader to get things done on behalf of the American people," McClellan said. "We support the work that he's doing."

15. I wonder what he'll do once he gets the boot
Will he tell all about things he knows?? Since Bush claimed he was a friend but Cheney gave him the kiss of death pretty much. So I wonder what's going to happen.. :shrug:

21. It's the face of a man who has just eaten off the carcass of the poor
Seriously, he's chewing on something.

Either that or he's nervously shifting his dentures around. I bet he's that guy in all those dentist office pictures who can touch his nose to his chin.

3. suspicious
Now, I wonder why Bush felt compelled to say that DeLay is a friend and that he hopes to keep working with him.

Something's going on behind the scenes... any ideas?

9. Oh, I am CERTAIN they'll take care of Tommy.
These guys stick together, cover each others' cracks. They may be "creating" a profitable way "out" for him,...as we speak.

8. I'm guessing so too, but now we have a great soundbite!
After MORE ethics violations come to light (you know they will eventually with this slimeball), we can replay "Tom DeLay is President Bush's friend!! We SUPPORT what he's doing!" :)

14. Exactly! As long as we're stuck with Delay,
keep him as the poster-boy for all the corruption and lying that is so indicative of this administration. But as soon as he steps aside or is pushed aside (I give him about 10 days), keep this quote front and center.

Bush = Delay.

Bush = Delay.

Bush = Delay. (repeat after me.)

12. On PBS this morning, Cokie Roberts said that the biggest sign of danger for
DeLay was that the Senate gave him a standing ovation. She said the last guy they did that to was then gone the next Monday.

24. Im not the person to ask
Rush makes me laugh my ass off. His show is hilarious in a way that I am sure he doesn't intend.

Its so funny to hear him skew and spin anything way to the right and then still find a way to go further to the right.

Its classic to hear his listeners call in with their "megadittoes", and then to hear the morons spout out talking points that Rush feeds them as though they were their own thoughts. Its almost fascinating.

Plus, there is always the game of trying to guess if Rush is intentionally lying or is just really stupid. Usually its some combination of both, but sometimes its fun to try and figure which is more dominant.

25. Ah, I was kidding anyhow,
back when I had a car with AM-only radio, I listened to talk radio quite a bit. Rush, Dr. Laura, and some nutcase that called in to himself in different voices...those folks were always good for some laugh material.
