Means XM has control over left wing talk radio over the satilite. Maybe now they will carry Malloy instead of Alan Colmes.

sorry, I am an XM junkie.

10. I have yet to see any mention of Randi Rhodes or Mike Malloy
being carried on XM under this new deal. Does anyone know?

I can't imagine AAR doing this deal unless XM agreed to carry the whole lineup.

That is my impression. This is bound to hurt Sirius. We have almost 300 invested in a home subscription and antenna with Sirius.

I am very upset.

XM, Air America Strengthen Ties
April 11, 2005
By Ken Tucker

Beginning in May, XM Satellite Radio's liberal talk stream, America Left, will be renamed Air America Radio as part of a new agreement with the left-leaning network. Air America programming has been part of XM's lineup almost from the start of Air America's life, just over a year ago. The agreement also names XM as “the official satellite radio network” for Air America Radio. What that means for Sirius Satellite Radio, which also carries Air America programming, is unclear at this time.

Interestingly, in addition to the Air America programming lineup, the channel will also feature Democracy Radio’s "The Ed Schultz Show" and Fox News Radio’s "The Alan Colmes Show."

"XM was a natural fit to be the official satellite radio network of Air America Radio, given its large subscriber base, numerous distribution channels and demonstrated growth," Air America CEO Danny Goldberg said in a statement. "The quality of XM's other partnerships, their Washington, D.C. location and proximity to the center of our nation's political workings, along with millions of subscribers, made our decision easy."

Air America Signs With XM Satellite Radio
April 11, 2005
By Katy Bachman

XM Satellite Radio announced Monday it has signed a multi-year content agreement with Air America Radio, making XM the exclusive satellite radio network for the left-leaning radio network. Financial terms were not disclosed.

When the deal begins in May, Air America Radio will no longer air on Sirius Satellite Radio, which has 1.2 million subscribers to XM's nearly 3.8 million.

As part of the agreement, XM's America Left channel will be renamed Air America Radio and include the expanded lineup of AAR programming -including Jerry Springer, Al Franken, Randi Rhodes, Rachel Maddow and Janeane Garofalo. The channel will also include other programming not associated with AAR that currently airs on America Left, such as The Ed Schultz Show, syndicated by Democracy Radio and Jones Radio Networks, and The Alan Colmes Show, syndicated by Fox News Radio.

I really don't know what to think...

they are in the process of growing huge..this may be a real great move for air america..it may hurt those of us who bought sirus..but it is prob a great move for air america..and its improtant for air america to stay strong...most truck drivers and most satellite owners own xm...

its more friendly to use as well..

but now i am stuck with a 1 year subscription..wonder if we can get out of that since they are loosing the only network we listened to and bought it for?

I'm writing to her now. :) I hope if she hears from enough they will carry the whole lineup including Rachel Maddow's new show (yay!). I'm not sure with XM radio (since I don't listen to the radio anymore and now listen to AAR online) and was wondering what do you get to hear AAR? I was going to try to save up to buy a sirius so when I go on vacation or something I can still listen to my favorite programs this summer and stuff. Thanks in advanced.

16. There's a silver lining.
I know a lot of people are going to be really annoyed (rightly so), but think about what this means for AAR.

XM wanted them bad enough to pay a premium for the exclusive rights. That says to me they were losing sales to Sirius because of AAR.

In a circular way, it's good news.

26. Crappy, Crappy, Crappy -- AAR's First Bad Move In A Year
XM must be paying AAR a shit load of money to allow themselves to be punked out and make it look like Ed "ZZZZZ" Schults and Alan "Kick Me Harder, Sean!" Colmes are actually part of the AAR lineup while icing Sirius out of a full stream. That's the only way they'd do this.

Come to think of it, this'll be the second time Malloy is knocked off of Sirius ...

AAR is to blame for this - and I would recommend writing THEM and bitching, as I just did.

Sirius is the superior system, and it'll be interesting to see the fallout from this -- 'cuz if XM doesn't carry Malloy I ain't buyin' 'em.

Ed Schultz is as exciting as listening to paint dry. Besides, he's NOT part of the AAR lineup. And having Alan Motherf**king COLMES is an absolute DISGRACE.

Two Hours of Randi + No Malloy + Any Colmes = F**K XM - AND I'LL SCREAM IT AS LOUD AS I DAMN WELL PLEASE.

32. PAY ATTENTION FOLKS... here's how to get Mike on XM...
a coupla of years back, XM dropped part of one show (Monsters of the MidDay) and they got over 5,000 calls/emails on it..

they restored the show to full length in less than 48 hours.

GET BUSY ON THE EMAILS, PASS THE WORD TO EVERY TRUTHSEEKER YOU KNOW.

Phone calls also in addition to emails.

This new schedule goes into effect May 1, this is Apr 11. We've got 20 days to SET THE SCHEDULE.

DO NOT BE ABUSIVE, THREATING OR SMART ASS.

Be polite and to the point.

If you're a Sirius subscriber, then let them know the only way you're coming over is MIKE MALLOY (and the rest of Randi)

if you're an existing XM Subscriber, let them know that YOU HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THEM TO GET MALLOY AND IT WILL INFLUENCE YOUR FUTURE RADIO PURCHASES (one for home, one for car, one for work).

if you're not a subscriber to either then make it clear that THE FULL AAR LINEUP WILL BE YOUR DECIDING FACTOR IF YOU GO TO SAT RADIO PERIOD (can't use the Sirius arguement any more).

Make your displeasure with Alan Colmes known.

MAKE IT STRONG YOU WOULD LIKE TO SEE A SECOND 'Left Channel' with Ed Schultz, Thom Hartmann, Bernie Ward, Lionel... that there is MORE THAN ENOUGH TALENT OUT THERE TO PROGRAM A SECOND CHANNEL.

37. AAR Moves Closer To Cheap Channel
XM's biggest investor and also the company that owns the most number of stations that carry AAR programming. While it's important to have a large company like this on your side, this company now has a lot of power in how this network operates and grows.

Still no AAR affiliate in Chicago, and looks like any plans have fallen through, again.

Also, there's precious little local Progressive and Liberal talk radio...especially in red and "purple" areas where hate radio is accepted as fact and dominates the dial.

I pop on AAR through the internet and have contacted them about becoming available on the new generation of Internet Radios that are coming on the market...all the advantages of satellite using your existing Internet connection.

I've never been interested satellite radio.

38. Here's the letter I sent to Ms Robertson who is with XM
Congratulations on XM securing the rights to Air America. At the moment I subscribe to Sirius because they carry Air America. Needless to say I am saddened to see them leave Sirius because buying a new satellite radio is not cheap. Before I decide whether to leave Sirius I need to know whether XM will also be carrying the Mike Malloy show. Mike Malloy is on from 9PM to 11PM (Central time) every night. He is one of my favorite hosts on Air America because he is no nonsense and will not pull any punches on anyone regardless of political affiliation.

Will XM be carrying the entire Air America lineup, including Mike Mally?

39. I'm hoping that AAR gets it all straightened out with both XM and Sirius.
It would be good business for AAR to be on BOTH satellite systems--not just one. This really sucks though. I bought Sirius just for AAR last year. AAAAARGH!!! Luckily, I didn't invest too much money. Just the receiver and boombox.

I'm going to wait to see what actually transpires in May. I may just have to give up AAR. Or go back to streaming online. Either way, I'm not spending any more money, that's for sure.
