Is this for real? It seems fishy to me.
You will soon see a lot of people wearing Red on Fridays. Here's why ....The Americans who support our troops, are the silent majority. We are not "organized" to reflect who we are, or to reflect what our opinions are.

Many Americans, like yourself, would like to start a grassroots movement using the membership of the Special Operations Association, and Special Forces Associations, and all their friends, simply to recognize that Americans support our troops. We need to inform the local VFW's and American Legion, our local press, local TV, and continue carrying the message to the national levels as we start to get this going. Our idea of showing our solidarity and support for our troops is -starting Friday, and continuing on each and every Friday, until this is over, that every red - blooded American who supports our young men and women,

WEAR SOMETHING RED! Word of mouth, press, TV -- let's see if we can make the United States, on any given Friday, a sea of red much like a home football game at a University.

If every one of our memberships share this with other acquaintances,
fellow workers, friends, and neighbors, I guarantee that it will not be long before the USA will be covered in RED - and make our troops know there are many people thinking of their well-being. You will feel better all day Friday when you wear Red! Let's get the word out and lead by example; wear RED on Fridays.

I sent this out to everyone on my email list; hopefully, you will too.

Please forward this to everyone you know!!

Wear Red on Fridays .

SUPPORT OUR TROOPS, WE LIVE IN THE LAND OF THE FREE, BECAUSE OF THE

BRAVE. FOR US, THEIR BLOOD RUNS RED!! GOD BLESS AMERICA

1. There's one sentence in that which explains what it's all about:
"You will feel better all day Friday when you wear Red!"

It's about US feeling better. Not the troops feeling better. 99% of the troops won't even know anyone is wearing red on Fridays. And how exactly does it help the troops?

They need pre-paid phone cards, they need armour on their vehicles, they need personal body armor, they need to COME HOME.

They don't need yet another empty, feel-good gesture. How does that help them? It doesn't.

Why don't these people try doing something that ACTUALLY helps the troops?

But remember, it's all about FEELING BETTER:

"You will feel better all day Friday when you wear Red!"

13. Yep. Reminds me of a very common grunt attitude in 'Nam.
"If they have so much fucking time to march and make signs, why can't they send letters and 'care packages'??"

Only a veteran understands what a guy's face looks like when he goes another day without hearing his name at mail call. Some of us know what it feels like when the letters stop.

15. Like the yellow ribbons- show a ribbon then don't bother
doing anything else to "support" the troops.

Want to support the troops? Do whatever you can to get people elected who won't cut their benefits and send them off to die for no goddam good reason. Fuck the yellow ribbons, and the red clothing too.:grr:

2. That's Pretty Funny
I bet if you find 10 people wearing red on Friday, and you ask all of them why they are wearing red on Friday, somewhere between 0 and 1 of them will say it's because they are supporting the troops with blood-colored clothes.

For that matter, we could just as easily say, "Wear jeans on Wednesday to show your support for the Democratic Party!" And then on Wednesday, we can say, "Look at all those people who support us!"

3. That is stupid.
I sometimes wear red and sometimes its on Friday because I like red.
Wearing red on Fridays to support the troops and show patriotism is as stupid as putting all those ribbons on your car.

4. Why not? DO wear red!
With a Che effigy on it. Or a hammer & sickle. Or CCCP. (An acquaintance of mine has the real deal -- a Soviet olympic volleyball player gave him one!)

6. It IS Interesting That They Chose Red
As opposed to, say, yellow, like the ribbons, or green, a color more closely associated with the military.

Many people associate red with communism.

22. I'm sure they wanted blue...
since it's part of the red white and blue and has no unfortunately commie connotations, but unfortunately DEMOCRATS have it.

Haha.

8. The sounds like the Freeper rally that attracted millions ...
only because they decided to show up at a marathon.

I got one.

If you think George Bush is a fucking idiot, try to use the word "the" as much as possible. Since we are the majority, this will be a great way of showing our support for impeaching the dim-bulb

Cheers
Drifter

To republicans, supporting our troops = supporting the war in Iraq. They are NOT the same thing and this email fails to address that. Red....wonder why they chose that color?

10. I'm gonna have to go naked soon
no red on fri (supporting "troops")
no green on St Paddy's day (supporting anti-pagan religion saint)
no pink valentines day (supporting candy makers)
no red or green christmas (supporting nasty christians)
no blue on titanic day (supporting bad ship designs)
no orange on halloween (supporting the devil)
no purple on mothers day (supporting hallmark cards)
no yellow on monday (supporting the sun, not the moon)
no white on sunday (supporting the moon, not the sun)
no black whenever (supporting goth and death)

What am I to do? I think people can find reasons for anything and spend too much time forwarding emails to each other and not enough time doing things (not meaning you for checking this out, but people who forward easy to do things rather than doing anything of consequence).
