So when the economic crash occurs, what will happen?
Do we all lose our jobs and then get own3d by the Chinese and Indians or what?

It's fun and all to say "I told you so" about the crash but ehat will happen after that seems a better idea for conjecture.

1. The xtian taliban take over.
Riding around on horses with ar-15s, raping their cousins and molesting your children.

2. Yeah
Killing non-Christians, raping children in name of god, abusing women who work and have degrees, marrying their cousins because it's a union between a man and a woman, and destroying the great achievements we made since this nation was founded.

All in name of Jesus.

Good thing I don't have kids. Hate to see any kid raped by a priest or Evangelical.

6. Well that's a little dark...
I'm sure we can expect some brilliant violence when we try to keep the assholes from raping our siblings and our children.

I plan to 'convert' quite a few of them.

It's time to get armed people, this is where you liberal types (for all your good intentions) have got to bite the bullet... so to speak.

4. Possible Outcomes
1. Interest Rates rise precipitously - adjustable rate mortgages become unpayable - millions lose their homes

2. Inflation skyrockets - aggregate consumer demand plummets - millions are laid off

3. US dollar suffers further losses - Bush government cannot pay interest on national debt - most social programs cut completely - millions die

7. The millions condemned, what will they do before they die?
Kill each other?

Kill anyone?

Team up and overthrow and take power? (I'd otherwise laugh in utter hysterics except I don't see anybody organizing. It's all about 'the individual' anyway and what's worth taking over?)

Sit in apathy?

14. Take heart HypnoToad...
Humans are notorious for doing nothing until it becomes necessary.
We aren't too good at acting on forecasts of doom because we like to be 'comfortable'. (Global warming and economic crisis are not comfortable.)

Rest assured Humans will find a balance despite the horrific circumstances.

Oh... and there will be guns... lots and lots of guns.

I recommend getting into the arms market.

9. All of the above, actually...
The best part is when we resort to 'old town' tactics to keep our homes.

They won't be able to pay the cops and the national guard enough to oust anyone.

Gee, won't it be nice when we all have to get real polite with each-other again.

5. My own personal guess
the federal govt will close down all operations except it's governmental offices and military operations including VA hospitals.
They will cut off all social security checks, payments of all kinds,
SSI, medicaid, they will lay off massive amounts of federal employees, they will sell off drilling rights to Alaska and anything else they can get their hands on, wall street will tank and the mutual funds will plummet, not down to zero but down significantly,
the price of oil will go way up, inflation will become rampant, and the cost of living will skyrocket, we won't be in the dark but it won't be a picnic.

15. 1929 will be a picnic compared to what may be coming
because at least in 1929 we did not have a massive debt and we still had manufacturing to help pull us out in the late 1930's early 1940's. In the 1929 everyone was not into the stock market as they are today, nor was the individual debt load any where near it is today.

25. future
I don't think it will be quite so cataclysmic. Look to Argentina for a preview. High unemployment and under-employment, higher prices, rents. More extended families living together. But the hardest thing for we Americans might be that we will have to accept a long-term downward trajectory that puts our incomes and lifestyles more in line with other countries not quite so blessed. We won't be special anymore.

29. Yes, we will have to resort to 'emergency communism'.
And don't you dare think of offing yourself should all of this come to pass. We will need smart people to keep the sheep from killing and eating each-other. (I've read your posts... you qualify.)

While it will not be easy, you must think of it as a ride, an adventure that you can contribute to. And you must realize that your contribution could well mean the difference between the success or failure of the species.

Make no mistake - at the end of all this is either oblivion or divinity. In the case of the former; none of us will give a shit because well... we're gone and oblivious. In the case of the latter; we're all saved anyway, so do what you can. (Boy, won't that REALLY piss off the fundies!)

And if for any reason the fundies are right - I'll find you in hell and bring you a drink. Deal?

11. I think the Chinese already own us...
I'm sure Bush will do whatever it takes not to let the economy crash on his watch. Which means that we need to control more oil. Which means attacking Iran... If he does manage to crash the entire economy I defer to the previous poster who said that they will blame it on Clintons dick.

The world can't afford it.

If our economy fails, so does theirs.

Of course... that would mean war.

When the system falls apart, we will have Armageddon.

And I can't wait for the fundie fuckheads to start collapsing 'cause they wasn't all 'raptured up'.

The world has been driving itself to this.

Prepare for the worst and spread the word... to those who deserve to hear it.

Symbiosis created by parasites, no wonder the world wants to ditch the dollar. And they may be too late.

Fortunately.

It would be worse if they had.

I'd rather be dead than owned.

30. LOL - recriminations are temporary self-indulgence...
I like to picture saying, "I told you so" to a poor prostrate fundie who believes God has forsaken him after he has done his 'damnedest' to abridge the rights of others based on his faith.

But I know me better than that - I'll either pick him up, dust him off, and help him collect himself... or put him out of his misery.

Depends on my mood... I'm not really an 'I told ya' so.'

13. The churches will feed us...
And all the Christians will feel good that they are doing God's work. Because, no matter how poor in spirit America will be, God will be looking over us. He will protect us and guide us. We will all be much closer to heaven when we have nothing and are dependent on the graces of the deacons and the local church to provide us food and shelter. Didn't you know that?

16. The US will default on it's debt
The US will tell China and Japan and all who trusted in the honesty of the US to Honor it's debt to lump it. The US will just say "What's ya gunna do about it?" as the gunslinger said to the sheriff and then print up a bunch of new money..

17. This already happened, in a big way. It was called the 80's and Japan
was the big daddy, although the Dutch owned more American interests for a period (odd, no one every warned against the Dutch scourge). We were in hock, there would have to be telethons for America, etc. Then, guess what, we got some good leadership and turned it around (only to have Greenspan ruin everything, that asshole!).

"Management" is no doubt fed up with the incompetent Texans and will shortly make their move. Notice Fitzgerald, my favorite timing mechanism for the * demise, is now ready to charge someone in the WH w/perjury (a WH leak so it's probably much worse). If a neocon is indited, that means AMF BushCo. They'll toss Cheney, trash the neocons, and then something will emerge and get pushed hard by CM (corporate media) which will remove * by acclamation.

That's when the fun starts. They'll try to put in their stooge and the public will be so out of control, thanks to the internet, that we will stand a real chance of getting someone decent in.

The timing has to accelerate because "management" can't trust the 2006 elections. Too many smart people out there, thanks,in part, to DUers, about election fraud to steal much and too much real anger about * to count on a Republican House. Watch them move and move quickly. Watch the House Republicans (the true American Taliban) resist "management." Watch the political brawl of the last 1000 years. * in his bunker in Crawford, protests all over the country, "the whole world's watching."

Count on it. * is so crazy and stupid he's costing the real ruling class real money. They don't like that and will strike back.

N.B. Just realized another timing point...a pincer move. When DA Earl in Austin indites DeLay, which will probably be first since they're stiring that pot real good, the next step will be a move by Fitzgerald against a senior Cheney aid or worse.

27. The nation goes pink and green, quite a nice combination of
colors. Not quite red, as in Marxist, more a soothing shade like the sand on some obscure beaches.

And the rich come tumbling down.

If money is all you are worth, and money becomes worthless, well, you do the math.

Me, I'm an electrician. I'll probably make out okay.

WOuldn't want' to be Donald Trump though.
