The War on Iraq isn't about Oil
America is becoming a Pseudo-Fascist Empire.

It's not Fascist, like in Fascist Germany or Pinochet-era Chile, but it's pretty close.

Watch in 2006 in Mexico, when the President who will get elected will be very friendly to 'president' Bush. This will conveniently be a very good chance for the Empire to get a little bigger.

I though I would never see the day when our country would be ruled by an Emperor.

2. Of course
To say it isn't about oil at all is wrong.

Oil IS a weapon.

If one controls the flow of oil, they can control the very power and flow of nations.

3. It is one of the things. To control is the big thing
When you have your army in 150 countries I would call it some type of an Empire. Specially when it is to have those countries do as you wish.

6. What?
America-hating Commie? What? I have no problem with Capitalism. Calling me a Communist, I hope not. Because that is a sure sign that we are returning to the days of fear of the Cold War and the absurd notions that everybody who had 'unorthodox' views were Commies and that Mutually Assured Destruction was a good idea.

I clearly also said Pseudo-Fascist. Fascist-lite, if you will.

There is a 99% chance that we will never see Death Camps or anything of that nature.

7. Amerika has been an Oligarchy for many years.
It has recently shifted to Corporatism due to the politicians need for more power and wealth. The Bush Junta is carying out the extreme RW agenda, controlled by the NeoCons and supported by the so called Christian Right and the economic ageneda is alligned with the Multi-Corps.

discuss both "control of resources" and "security for Israel". While those guys are ideologues - purists - their agenda was hijacked by other factions (big oil, xtian right, scummy politicians) who found their own reasons (political capital, profit, etc).

11. The reason the war is in Iraq is oil, but...
Edited on Fri Apr-08-05 06:43 AM by K-W
that is not the only reason there is a war. A large part of the reason is the domestic economy and culture, but we are in Iraq to solidfy our position in the oil rich region.

12. One doesn't exclude the other
It's not like (pseudo) fascist empires (or "empires" in general for that matter) have no interest in dominating the world - just look at Hitler's attempt to create his "1000 year empire".
And obviously, controlling resources plays a major part in dominating the world.
