SO Canuckheads - early election in light of today's developments?
I don't think the Cons will because they know that people would be so scared of them winning that everyone would vote Lib and they'd lose minority status. I'm guessing they will wait until this settles down then go for it.

2. The Gomery inquiry lifted part of a ban on testimony
Of the former president of groupaction, a Quebec ad agency that received shitloads of money from the Liberals. His testimoney revealed they were told what to do with the dough... and that $100,000 of it went to the Bloc Quebecois... the party dedicated to ripping the nation in two (who I once voted for as a joke) as well millions went to personal friends of the libs

11. I think it just shows P.R. companies give to every party
As a matter of course. In the U.S., I wonder if this would even be an issue.

I think the Conservatives have to watch they don't try to make too big a deal about the scandal angle without some positive agenda that people like. Just talking about scandal could remind people of our old friend Mulroney. We still don't know what the $300K he got from Karl Heinz-Schriber was all about. Was he showing off macaroni machines at the local malls?

8. Probably because as long as there is the block Q... there will never
be a conservative majority. Ha Ha! Who knows.. they may have wanted to make friends and diffuse the Independence movement.. you know .. to sort of say.. "guys - if you behave there is more for you".

Who knows. I think since the country was on the line it is okay to have a big fund to try and keep federalism together. Too bad the creeps fleeced the money away on blatant bull.

I think they couldn't have just given money to only Liberals. That would just be rotten if nothing went to anyone else.

I hope they vote on Kyoto. I'd really like to see some of it written in stone. Sort of a poison pill to keep Americans looking elsewhere in the world for underpopulated and oil rich places to bully.

I like the Liberal party a whole lot less now, but that's still a whole lot more than I like the Cons.

And although I like the NDP, they have two things going against them: They could split the anti-con vote, giving it to the Cons, and they're an unknown quantity as far as being in power's concerned. They talk a really good talk, but how like the BC liberals are they? Yikes!

7. If our scandals happened up there
Just look at all the holy heck breaking loose over a couple hundred thousand dollars here, maybe a couple million there. Nonstop TV coverage in Quebec, top of the news everywhere else, a government in crisis.

Then look at our U.S. scandals, the billions lost in Iraq, the rampant plundering at home, and all of DeLay's difficulties. Yet nary a peep from CNN et al.

Tell me again which is the better country?

10. I think it's 50/50 now...
I just don't think the Tories want to chance it, amd I think the NDP would get most of the Grit votes, anyway.

I can't wait to get my citizenship...

12. I don't think the opposition wants an election yet
I don't think any of them think things will change all that much if we had another election.

I like having a minority government - it keeps them a bit more honest.

It'll be interesting to see what else comes out.

I can't believe you voted for the BLOC!
