CNN has amazingly discovered the similarities between the Pope and Reagan
and Bush....Isn't it incredible?....Who would have thought there would be such a connection between them?....(SARCASM!)....They don't mention the fact that the Pope was against the Iraq war and capital punishment and the exploitation of the working people by big corporations....They are honing in on his anti-abortion feelings....If I hear CNN say "culture of life" one more time I will scream!....They even had a priest on there (you can always find someone to say anything you want)who said John Kerry may have been Catholic but he was against many of the Catholic beliefs....Referring to his stand on abortion, I suppose....As I remember it Kerry said, he was personally against abortion, but as president he did not think it was his place to work against the law that is in place...
Watching this network (CNN) doing everything they can to link Bush and Reagan to the Pope is DISGUSTING beyond belief.

3. you know what is just as bad? There are people taking pictures
of the Pope laying in state, and they don't look like they're reporters, just regular people with cameras.

7. That's normal...........
just part of the grief process. At least that's what I was told last night in another thread. I remarked that all of this was rather ghoulish, but I was told that I feared death and that this is the way catholics mourned. :eyes: OK......

4. You're right about Kerry
His stance was to NOT let his religious beliefs dictate his politics.

6. CorporateNewsNetwork promotes FASCISM, not the anti-poverty message
of the Pope.

CNN hasn't been a news network since AOL took it over to promote the GOP agenda of fascism. The Bushes and the Saudi royals use CNN as their propaganda tools. CNN is now their PR department.

9. I'm Catholic (haven't gone to church in years) but I think the Pope was a
very loving person with NOTHING IN COMMON with war-loving Bush and his daddy....I don't agree with some of the Pope's precepts, but he was AGAINST war and capital punishment and FOR the downtrodden and weak.....Bush has no real emotion or compassion....He just knows how to act the part for his slavish followers!

10. Jesus wept, Reagan slept
Ron Jr. just showed the video of his father falling asleep while the Pope spoke at length in Polish (said hey, he was an old guy and he was seriously jetlagged).

I have to think this cannot be easy for Ron Jr., covering this story. Sure, his father died a while back, his mind was gone, but he has to see the parallels -- the whole state funeral/lying in state aspect. Regardless of politics, yer pa is yer pa. He's doing a fine job of it, I must say.

MSNBC did a halfway decent job on the transfer of the Pope from the apartments to the Basilica. Tweety was host, and probably BECAUSE he is Catholic, he actually SHUT UP and just let the camera roll. Almost no commentary except to explain specific aspects.

The only similarities between Reagan and the Pope is that neither fired a shot in their efforts to end communism. The Pope bitched, yelled, encouraged, and hectored, and Reagan spent money like a drunken sailor with his 600 ship Navy and Army as big as it wanted to be.

Chimpy wants oil, using "spreading Democracy" as the cover story, and he murders thousands of Iraqis, kills and maims a slew of our own children, and spends us into the poorhouse. He would have been better off stuffing half that cash into the fucking social security lockbox, and using the rest to provide incentives to businesses developing alternative energy sources. The idiot!
