need help teaching this class
I need and article focusing on how badly US students do in terms of geography.....
I can't google it myself for some reason none of my search sites will work today..... they may have blocked them because of Lyrics.com (that's another story)

2. Here's some
http://nces.ed.gov/nationsreportcard/geography/

http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2002/06/0621_020621_geoscores.html

http://www.edexcellence.net/institute/publication/publication.cfm?id=320#945 - this one is state standards only as far as I can tell.

These were taken from Yahoo (I don't Google often - too right wing affiliated). If these don't help, post again. I'm sure there are other teachers who can share some tips. Good luck

5. I live in New Mexico and I know what dolts most folks are
when it comes to geography. There were Harvard grads back in Boston who asked me what kind of visa I needed to move here.

Read it and laugh. Then feel sad.

6. When I taught Japanese, the first order of business was always to
roll down the world map and point out where the U.S. is and where Japan is.

Way too many students didn't know.

Top prize, though, goes to a student at Cornell back in the 1970s who heard that I was from Minnesota and asked me if Minnesota had a seacoast. Seriously. After I had recovered my shock, I said, "Not in this geological era."
