U.S. says Israel must give up nukes...
The State Department yesterday called on Israel to forswear nuclear weapons and accept international Atomic Energy Agency safeguards on all nuclear activities.

This is the second time in about two weeks that officials in the Bush administration are putting the nuclear weapons of Israel, India and Pakistan on a par.

The officials called on the three to act like Ukraine and South Africa, which in the last decade renounced their nuclear weapons.

I'll believe it's US policy when some named official says something, and maybe not even then.

3. Yeah, like that's really going to happen, no matter what they claim.
Many in Israel consider the nukes essential as a deterrent to surrounding countries' attacking them. Besides, who are we to be telling them, a sovereign nation, what they are to do about their country's defense?

Looks like the neocons have figured out a way to alienate even the Israeli right wing.

12. Why, OUR nukes are protect the godly from the ungodly
'Course, the blivet**-in-chief and his cartel define godly in a manner not usually seen in traditional religious literature. For that matter, their idea of "protect" is novel as well, having something to do with claiming of oil reserves for cronies to make a profit on.

The amazing thing is that they believe they can bully their way into making the entire rest of the world do whatever the hell they want. They are overestimating their "bullying capital" by quite a bit. Ignorance and willful blinndess will do that, I supose.

17. Jews
John Von Newman and Albert Einstien were both Jewish and Zionists. For those who don't know these two were chiefly responsible for splitting the atom shall we say. Of course the were working for America at the time but still...

4. ....window dressing....
...more from your link; "Sanders and Fitzpatrick refrained from calling on Israel, India and Pakistan explicitly to renounce their weapons. The expectation of these three states was phrased in terms of a vow - a verbal pledge to forswear, rather than real action. Nor was this demand accompanied by a time table, conditions and sanctions".

16. Now - that would mean something. We're the only people,
so far, who've ever actually USED the damn things.

Destroying them would be either the stupidest thing ever done by a nation, or the greatest.

It could be the dawn of a new day. We would work on the arts of peace, on fixing the environment, on finding new fuels.

One can dream:)

13. This is just for public consumption. Nothing will come of it, believe me.
That's not all Israel should give up. How about the occupied territories for starters?
