Popus Interuptus - FILIBUSTER
(Note to Catholics - our biggest asset USED to be our sense of humor)

It is time for everybody to go the extra mile, TODAY, to save the filibuster. I have read conflicting reports on when Frist might strike, from Monday to Thursday. Just don't know, so we really have to act.

Several groups have launched campaigns to stop the “nuclear option”.

What is important is that liberals, progressives, Democrats and Greens, in ALL FIFTY STATES, take feet to the street action. This may be the single most critical action anyone takes in the next four years. There is always another election, judges are forever.

There are links to downloads for petitions, letters, and talking points; phone numbers, online petitions, and list of 24 targeted Republian Senators, although they're all important.

PLEASE ACT!!

It's just so...I don't know. It sounds kinda dirty, even if I know it isn't.

Otherwise, good info. Thanks.

5. I love the title of your thread!
I have nominated it as well and will begin my efforts to let my congress critters know that the filibuster must be saved.

My senator is bickering with the weed, so maybe he is open to listening to folks that support action against the weed's agenda!

Thanks for the links!!

10. Former Senate Majority Leader George Mitchell:
Former Senate Majority Leader George Mitchell: Plan to Ban Filbusters, "Unprecedented, Unfair and Unwise"
3 April 2005

Yesterday in the Democratic weekly radio address, Former Senate Majority Leader George Mitchell called the Republican plan to ban filibusters of judicial nominees, "unprecedented, unfair and unwise."

"Neither I nor any other senator, Republican or Democrat, ever dreamed of taking the kind of drastic action now being proposed," said Mitchell, a former federal judge himself who was majority leader from 1988-95 as a senator from Maine.

"We had the power to do so, but we refrained from exercising that power because it was as wrong then as it is now. The end does not justify the means."

15. Kick for anti-nucular-option
But "popus interuptus" unfortunately reminded me of one of the nicknames donned on the Road Runner or Wile E. from the old Looney Tunes.

I'm sorry ... it's just the first thing I thought of ...
