Father, son arrested as Cheney motorcade passes
http://www.phillyburbs.com/pb-dyn/news/113-03302005-469705.html

<snip>

Jay Saddington and his son, Randy, 36, both were arrested for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest at York and Almshouse in Warwick following a series of incidents at three blocked intersections in the township. Several roads between Horsham and Northampton were closed as Cheney made his way to and from a fund-raising event for Congressman Michael Fitzpatrick in Lower Bucks County.

Jay Saddington said he wanted only to get to his home at Log College Drive and Bristol Road and that he didn't do anything wrong.

Police claim the father and son repeatedly used expletives and refused to cooperate with officers. At one point, police used a stun gun, a weapon that delivers a 50,000-volt shock, to subdue the elder Saddington.

"I'm a fairly respectable citizen, and they treated me like I was a bank robber or killer," Saddington said. "I was really bent out of shape about this whole thing."

1. Well, gee, if I was within 100 yards of my place, and the police
would not let me through, and they also refused to tell me why they wouldn't let me through, I'd be a little agitated myself.

I wonder what 50,000 volts feels like.

10. My sister and b-i-l both got tazered
as part of thier training (their cops) Apperently if you are going to carry one here you have to take a hit from it first. My b-i-l said he screamed like a little girl, and my sister said she felt like acid was running through her arms down to her fingers. The more muscular one is the worse it hurts.

9. I love it
I was going to make a comment along those lines, but your phrase sums it up nicely.

6. We never had to use this type of force to keep people away from
Edited on Wed Mar-30-05 03:33 PM by efhmc
Clinton and Gore, did we. How many such forceful events would a search reveal? Few, if any, I bet? Edited to add: and Gore.

14. That's because Clinton was a real president,
and Smirk is a dictator installed against the will of the people. * is also the most hated man in history, in terms of raw numbers.

11. But it really has nothing to do with Cheney.
The guy arrested never knew why the roads were closed. I understand his frustration but he sounds a tad unbalanced to me. Here is the thing... I assure you the Police have audio and video of the entire incident. I bet you never hear about his conviction in court or ever get to see the video. The video is probably rather interesting.

12. I suspect you might be right
the fact that he describes himself as "fairly respectable" made me think something like that.

I believe William Ligue also desribed himself as "fairly respectable."

15. I disagree that he sounds unbalanced
The cops should have left some way open for him to get to his house or at least let him know what was going on. If all roads around my house were blocked I'd freak too.

This is another section from the article:

Police said when the Saddingtons stopped at York and Bristol roads, Jay Saddington told an officer he needed to walk only about 100 yards to his house. The officer said if Saddington left his car parked at the intersection, it would be towed.

"I live a half-block from where we wanted to go and tried a half-dozen ways to get there," Jay Saddington said. He said none of the officers he approached would tell him why roads were closed. "I didn't know if there was a bomb threat. ... I don't know why they couldn't notify the people who live there."

When the Saddingtons drove to York and Almshouse roads, officers there already had a description of the vehicle they were driving, police said.

17. Ok, what is wrong with the section you quoted?
He certainly can not leave his vehicle parked in an intersection. Seriously, how long was the rode closed? I am sure it was not long. They guy just lost it.

20. It was closed for 45 minutes
and since the cops wouldn't tell him what was going on he may have thought the worst. He may have just wanted to walk home and make sure everything was OK then come back for his car.

I'm sorry- I think the cops overreacted to this.

16. I'd want to get home too if I didn't know what was going on
the roads were blocked and there was a heavy police presence. I'd welcome seeing a video of this altercation myself.

13. We are repeatedly bombarded...
with clues that suggest that our rights no longer matter to the powers that be.

Our opinions aren't asked for or wanted unless we're multinational corporations.

We can be stopped en route to our own homes because a king passes through.

At first, children were shocked into submission, now they're going after grandpa.

We can't honor the medical/end of life wishes of our spouses.

Wickedly rabid fundies own the airwaves and our government's ear.

It must suck to be the constitution right now.

:scared:

Feel free to add pieces to this puzzle.
