GIULIANI Plays Mini-Shrub,Swings Wingnut, Groundwork for '08 Run
The other sources, NYT, Newsday (Google: Giuliani Texas partner law)--take his partnering with a Repuke-connected-law-firm as meaning the opposite of this link, that his business venture means he will NOT run for something or other (governer, prez). This link sez this is a strategic hop to the Wingnut side TO run.

.... By joining a large Texas law firm, Giuliani, a political moderate, also may be trying to broaden his appeal among conservative GOP voters in anticipation of a presidential bid in 2008, said one political analyst.

"Texas is certainly deep in the heart of the red states and this connection raises speculation a little bit more about what he will do down the road," said Lee Miringoff of Marist College in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. ....

Giuliani conceded, however, that he felt a bond with Oxford because of the managing partner's close ties with Bush. Oxford raised more than $100,000 for Bush's 2000 presidential campaign and was chairman of his Houston-area campaign for governor in 1998.

When he was governor, Bush appointed Oxford a regent of the University of Texas System, where he also served as a member of its investment management company, known as UTIMCO.

The law firm as a whole has strong GOP ties. Its past roster includes Marc Racicot, who was tapped by Bush to head the Republican National Committee, and Greg Abbott, the current Texas attorney general.

During the 2004 election cycle, the firm's employees gave $306,495 to federal candidates, of which 62 percent went to Republicans, according to the Center for Responsive Politics. ....

2. I hope he runs.
I really do. Please run Rudy, please! The primary battle would clip St. Rudy's wings and dim his halo.

3. Rudy Giuliani is running against Hillary Clinton for her Senate seat 06.
This Republican Party would never never nominate Rudy Giuliani to run for President. They are going to build their 2006 election campaign around the Rudy verses Hillary Senate race.

4. He's nuts if he thinks the Republican Party would ever nominate him...
...Hey, Rudy, you scifuzzo, you're not a good old boy and they'll never accept you as one. To them, you'll always be a New Yorker whose last name ends in a vowel. Basta!
