Tinfoil Hat Time: Terri Schiavo edition
Ok, it's probably just my paranoid imagination, but...

Could it be that the Schindler/Wingnut coalition have been holding out till the last minute, hoping to get a favorable ruling right about the time that Terri dies, so that...

1) The "pro-life" movement will have a martyr.

2) The Schindlers will have grounds for a wrongful death action.

Hmmmmmmmm...

6. Yeah, my thoughts too. How cruel the courts want to look at it now...
as she literally draws her last breaths. This is pure Bushco-Rove sadistic. So that's probably why it's true.

2. I noticed their false accusations against Hospice ceased
I wondered if they were working up to sue that center when I heard the dad and the brother make those claims of Hospice overdosing her on morphine.

Someone put a stop to that because they quit saying it and the son backpeddled on it when asked by some CNN reporter.

I'm sure they will sue Micheal Shiavo. I wonder how much they will get for the donor list they are selling?

4. And the book deals, and the lecture circuit
Speaking to christo-fascists.

Yes, I predict the Schindlers will profit handsomely from their daughter's death.

3. There will be no wrongful death suit....
at least not one that gets more than a minute's hearing in court.

Every step of this process has been approved by the courts... repeatedly. There will be no grounds for a wrongful death suit.

This will be the opposite of a wrongful death.

5. Hold on, I need to get the hat off the top of the fridge.....
OK, ready.
Oh, I do think you're right. They'll continue abusing her after death, just as long as they can.

9. IF she is as brain damaged as doctors say?
Then she should be kept alive, against her wishes, to satiate her parents' emotional needs?

WTF?

10. apparently the parents had her at one time
and they gave up custody because they were overwhelmed by the amount of care she required. With revelations that the parents are selling donor lists, I am more inclined to think they just in it for the $$$$$.

17. The Mother has NOT been with Terri for two days ...
Why? It's just too painful for her. However, she can mug repeatedly in front of the cameras for national news - calling the Schiavo family members out by name to please let her HAVE her daughter back. Translation: Let her *control* everything in Terri's life ... just like she did when she was and infant, child, teen and married adult.

She can't see her daughter but she can disrespect others. That tells me all I need to know about what exactly motivates Mrs. Schindler. :puke:

11. Why don't you get some facts first?
The courts have ruled that this is what TERRI (remember her?) would have wanted, and have ordered it to occur. Michael does not have the authority to give her parents custody, even if he wanted to.

Now, as to TERRI, (remember her?), why should she have to exist in this manner so that her parents can have a plaything? Pretty undignified for a 41 year old woman, wouldn't you say?

12. You want your tax dolors to keep her brain dead body alive after
the parents kick it? when is enough enough?

The true irony is that the one thing that has any hope of aiding Terri's condition is Stem Cell Research.

13. I'm having trouble understanding your position.
"If she is brain dead?"

As another DUer's sig line reads, "You are entitled to your own opinion, but not your own facts."

Do you know how many surgeries this poor woman has endured during 15 years of rag doll existence?

I find the family's actions appalling. That's my opinion.

Brain cells don't grow back. That's a fact.

If they did, drug use wouldn't be an issue, would it?

You can argue an opinion; you can't argue facts.

14. I'm sure they love their daughter, but I think they like the cameras.

It can become addicting and sadly, I now believe they want to stay in the media frenzy circus. They are getting attention from all over the world. That's got to be mind blowing. Hmmm. Poor choice of words. I guess they can be absolutely, without any doubt, positive that they have done everything they believed to be possible by fighting until the moment of her passing.

I wouldn't be surprised if the religious right hires them on as crusaders of something. It's either that or they will finally have to face the fact that THEY do have a life after Terri. The way she would want it to be.

15. it's the "Nuke-lar" option
First -- Congress just didn't pass legislation at the last hour, and bush* didn't just suddenly decide to fly to DC to sign it

There had to be talks going on waaaayyy before this. Plus the timing is suspect -- why wait until Congress had ajourned and most members had already returned to their home states and thus would be unable to get back in time for the vote?

Running this through Congress at the last minute practically guaranteed that the only member left to vote on it would be those who supported it. Members who would vote against it or those that fear a back lash had time to skeddaddle out of town.

In the past -- emergency sessions were held to respond to a threat of attack, war or to pass budget/spending bills -- not to respond to the plight of one person.

Secondly -- busting the fillibuster is still very much on the table. The judge, who upholded the previous ruling to remove the tube, will be characterized as an "activist judge" and this will lend weight to the argument that 'we' need to get rid of or balance out judges with "conservative activist judges".

19. That is what gives me hope ! The intelligent judges.
Notice that even Baptist and Conservative Republican judges have been *fair* with review of this case.

I may be off base, but I'm getting the impression that unless a Conservative Judge is a TRUE "foaming at the mouth" Right Winger, once they are placed in such a position, the HONESTLY do their best to be open, honest and fair.

Remember the panels of judges that reviewed this case were NOT wild-eyed liberals but mostly Republican appointees. I bet that chaps the hide of the Rabid Right Wingers?

18. There are no grounds for a wrongful death action
The courts made the decision and because of that fact, there can be no wrongful death action in this case.
