Poll question: Who Do You Think Will Die (Or Resign) First The Pope or Fidel Castro?
Edited on Tue Mar-29-05 09:17 PM by DistressedAmerican
I am open to suggestions on other old powerful guys that are on death's door. Here are some options. Who's going down first?

(Note: Arafat IS DEAD. No write in votes for him will be tallied...)

However, I find your question and it's premise so despicable, that I feel I need to reply.

Yes, there are many people whom all of us (secretly) wish would die. But any sane, rational human being doesn't sit around hoping for it. Nor do we post polls on who will go first.

At best, I accuse you of being naive. At worst, I accuse you of being as distasteful as every right-wing fanatic we're fighting against.

7. Come On, I DID Leave Open The Option Of Retirement. Their Choice.
Too bad their job status' are tied to their lifespan.

That is what makes it neither insane nor irrational to speculate on their passing.

Sorry, if you find it in bad taste. You may not be alone.

17. Naw. If we fail to maintain some sense of humor,...we are screwed.
You didn't mean to hurt anyone, on purpose.

I think your poll is fabulous cause it DOES point out the senselessness of pretending like anyone is truly a "fortune teller".

8. So Far The Smart Money Is On The Pope.
Possible because he is so well covered.

Castro could well be far sicker and we'd never know.

13. Two Reasons...
Terri isn't on my poll because she has no power position. Her death bears little on world affairs. Besides, she has a head start!

Voted as requested. POPE! Running WAY behind in your poll? Proof that Terri is too easy!:toast:

This thread represents the worst of us. Hopefully, it will stop here and no one will be stupid enough to add another posting. (But then I'm just whistling into the wind, with this wish.) This is the kind of crap you'd expect from Limbaugh & Company.

18. I Refer You To Post #7.
Let them resign their power positions and I will never post on them again. That is my promise to you and anyone else with reservations.

As is they control the lives of too many people not to be of interest.

Sorry guys nothing personal, just your manipulation of millions of people's daily lives makes me sick. :puke:

22. People Are Brought Up To Believe It Is Immoral To Discuss Death.
I do not find it a healthy perspective to closet it.

Humor is a way of discussing death without being completely offensive to those that feel that way. Some feel stronger than others on the issue.

Personally, I think death is a part of life. It is not an evil thing to be thought of but never discussed.

Thanks for the backing.:pals:

Again I reiterate. Let them retire and their deaths will not be the subject of public speculation, even of the humorous sort.

And although you're original post may be considered harsh, it is totally understandable by those of us who recognize that we are being raped daily by the powers that be in Washington.

Especially when the death of Terri Schaivo is all you hear about. There are far more important people to worry about!

28. I think a Dead Poll is as funny as any...
When Castro goes it will be a done deal, no phony hoopla in Cuba.

On the other hand they might shove a tube into the Pope and claim he's alert and communicating forever. Or until they no longer need him.

1) Whose likely to fairly soon, healthwise?

2) Whose passing could give me schadenfreude and sick glee?

37. The Pope or Fidel
I do not know which one will die first. I am reasonably sure that the Pope would not go against 1800 years of Papal history and resign thought.
