Officer Wayne Smith was working a night shift early Easter morning when he was called to the scene and pushed his way through the blood-spattered crowd. Someone yelled, "Wayne, that's your son, Dayshawn. He just got stabbed."

"It went right to my heart," Smith told the Herald News of West Paterson in an interview published Tuesday. "My adrenaline pumped up more. I ran up to him, but he was lifeless."

4. Well, the killers of 8-year-old Dayshawn "DayDay" Hill of Brooklyn NY

were captured last week, according to America's Most Wanted. DayDay was caught in a crossfire started by a pair of drug pushers fresh out of jail who were trying to reclaim their turf. (The street term for such victims is "mushrooms" because they pop up so unexpectedly.) DayDay's family received the good news on the very day that a section of the street he died on was named after him.
