33. ONLY $2.05???
WHERE??? I'd LOVE it if I could find it that low here! The lowest I saw was $2.08, but that was a couple of weeks ago (looks like more recently it's gotten hiked again). In the Philly burbs it's anywhere from $2.17 to $2.25 and gets higher the closer to the city you get... I don't even want to know what it is IN the city.

I'll give you my last 4 m&m's (which even includes a green one!) if you tell me what gas station has regular for $2.05. ;)

I thought for sure the prospect of $3.00 gas would excite someone, but really...ther was more media heat when it went over a dollar from .75 back in the 70's.

Now, we are conditioned. Tell me you wouldn't look at a gas sign now that says "1.88" and think " oooooh, SCORE"

Soon, that will be the case with 2.92.

Oh,btw that's what it was for regular on PCH in CA this morning.

37. $2.19 Silver Spring MD
I have found however that if instead of running till I'm bone dry and filling up when the needle hits empty, I only spend $38.00 to fill as opposed to $42.00. This way, i delude myself into thinking I've saved four bucks.

Hey man, whatever it takes to feel optimistic these days.

46. In Norway it's 5,5555555555555555555555555555556
Approximately.

That is, if a gallon is about 5 litres. A litre in Norw. costs around 10 NOK, converted to USD this makes about 1,2$ per litre.

App. 80% of this is environmental tax, Norway is the worlds second largest oil producer.

You're spoiled ;-)

52. Hehe, OK - I deserved that for sloppy ground work
I got to check this out :-)

*later, after much paper consumation and pencil-gnawing*

Checked the numbers, and the gas price is about 9,80 - 10 NOK per litre (95 octane, lead free).
With the current exchange values, you'll get a dollar for app. 6,5 NOK.

Given my quick and shaky math, you'll get the following:

Per litre: ~$1,5
Per gallon: ~$5,64

It's not as bad as the whiskey prices, though.
A 75cl bottle of Jack Daniel's costs NOK 315, a conversion thus giveth ~$64 per litre of the noble fluid. Haven't got a clue to what this costs in the US. Is it a big difference?

Both alcohol, cars and gas are considered luxury goods in Norw. and are taxed heavily.

53. Here in Japan, a gallon of gas has jumped up a bit in price
Edited on Wed Mar-30-05 10:26 AM by Art_from_Ark
A couple of weeks ago, some local stations were selling it @ 105 yen/liter, which at the time was almost exactly $1.00/liter, or $3.76/gallon. Now it's 112-113 yen/liter, with the dollar @107, making it now about $3.93/gallon.

And for what it's worth, 720ml of Jack Daniel's at the local import shop is 980 yen, or US$9.15
